XBMC benefits from multicore ?

I had XBMC running on a Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.50GHz which died recently - so looking at Intel Pentium G620 @ 2.60GHz

Clock speed is higher per core (2.6 vs 2.5) and I notice the benchmarks are faster on the Quad core - but does XBMX use all the cores? Would the Pentium G be alright?

You can run it on an Atom if you want, just make sure you put a GPU in there and you're sorted.

That changes things slightly but the G will still be fine for that, Atom probably not

So it's only Windows + XBMC? If so why run Windows at all?

I don't know how to use Linux ... hehe

Battled with adding my own HDDs and it was such a mission to do anything.
