XBMC explained

My wife will be using it most of the time and neither one of us are that technical so I think best woll be to ise the Roku then.

Where can I find a roku for a reasonable price?

Amazon ... Cost me ZAR 1300.00 Odd to get it here. Took two weeks :)

XBMC is cool but some some of the addons are not stable. I find Navi X and a few of the popular add ons unstable with lots of buffering at times.

Ok cool, and what stuff are you watching on there at the moment?

I have
*Hulu+ for new series. Costs = $ 8 Odd PM
*Netflix for Movies and series. Costs = $ 8 Odd PM
*SkyNews for news. Costs = $0
*Vevo for music videos. Costs = $0
*Pandora for music (mp3). Costs = $0
*Plex for stuff on my laptop. Costs = $0

Try NowhereTV: It has CNN, BBC, eNCA (If you can get it to work)

And you will need Unotelly, i am assuming you have it already.

Hi, yes I already have netflix, huluplus and unotelly. But I was looking at getting a device so that when I play ps4 the wife can still watch tv. Does abc, hbo and thise channels as per the channel lis on playon.tv work here in SA?

Hello everyone,

I need to ask for a little help. im going FLIPPING mad here trying to figure this out.

I have a PC running widows 7 that is my media server, its connected wireless to my router and thus the internet. I have 2 android TV boxes with Gotham installed at my tvs, the problem I am having is that when ever I add new files to the media server, the shared folder does not automatically update the contents of the file and as such when I scan for new content the xmbc boxes see the folders but not the files inside.

I have tried the following:

Delete folder and make a new one - this works temporally but when I get new stuff im in the same boat.
Unshare and reshare
Workgroup = same
files are not set to read only
firewall disabled
Homegroup = Same
reboot
uninstall xmbc and reset it up
changed all user permissions
added guest as a user
added "Everyone" as a user with read/write permissions

I have some basic knowledge of networking but Im not a pro, any help will be really appreciated

Thanks
Mrob

ok just an update, I managed to create a new user on the server and load the files with that user name and password, it seem to work, has anyone else been stuck with this issue?

One issue with XBMC - can it run on a stand alone server that has no display card? I hit this problem when I first set up my HTPC - installed XBMCUbuntu, jumped through all the hoops only to have it say display adaptor not sufficient.
My HTPC purely streams to my devices - PS3 and WD TV Live. I have no need to install a low profile display card into my HP Proliant. Is there a way to run XBMC?
At this stage I have chose to run Plex which I am not entirely unhappy with
