Ahoy,

Hope someone can assist with this very annoying issue:

I am in no way able to connect my Xbox and PC to each other.
* The Xbox does not detect the PC at all
* The only place where I can see the Xbox from the PC is through the Network Map in the Network and Sharing Center. WMP does not detect it as a valid source to 'Play to..'

Some info on my setup:
* Xbox connected with ethernet cable to router
* PC connected via USB Wireless adapter to router (could the issue be the different connection mediums?)
* DHCP assigned IPs
* Sharing and network discovery options all enabled.
* Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7100

The Xbox can connect to Xbox Live without any issues (and obviously detects the network as well)

Any ideas?
Thanks!

similar set up to mine wirless pc and ethernet to xbox, try installing windows media centre on the pc, and it should pick up your xbox as an extender.
set up is prety easythe xbox will give you a passwrd that you need to put in the PC, then try out an mp3 or video through media centre on the xbox (it wont play avi this was)
now go back and try play vidoes on your xbox your pc should be there.

also check your router settings it might be blocked there.

Hey man

I also had similiar issues, firewall was off but still couldn't pick up the xbox. This sorted myne out though (just relized I'm not running 7 anymore so this from memory) go the security centre and advanced firewall rules and just enable or allow everything. Also make sure that streaming is allowed to the xbox in your homegroup. Sorry I can't be more specific than thought, but it sorted myne out. Also what i noticed is that when I disconnect from wifi and then back, for a few seconds xbox picks up the pc then drops it again. anyway good luck, can be a pain in the an^s :)

Sigh, I just think my setup has some bug in that I can't pinpoint.

Tried every tutorial and tip, no success. Tried the extender setup in WMC, adjusted all firewalls, streaming options, router settings... she aint budging! :P
I'll just keep on with the old fashioned way - running up and down with my external hdd between pc and xbox

Have you tried using Tversity, it works like a charm. Alot easier than all that Media Player BS.

Any1 got a link on how to get this working"? I am experiencing the same issues :D

I'm using that useless Telkom wireless router :P
I'v etried TVersity...still no luck... which convinces me it's network issue...

Also experiencing the same. I've got a Dlink wireless router, though. There's a post on myBB somewhere that quotes the release notes of a Dlink driver - apparently multicast is disabled via wireless on the current crop of drivers. The moment I hard-wire my laptop to the router, everything's groovy...

The trick that I found is that you must not set up the PC in the network settings of your Xbox, rather under the Music or Video tab on the dashboard.

I remember having issues with the Xbox being visible under media sharing in Media Player but the Xbox not being able to see the PC, and this fixed it.

Also, I know this seems obvious, but make sure you have Sharing enabled on Media Player 10 (and up) that you specifically select to share to the xbox. Not sure which step needs to be done first (Xbox or PC), all I know is that you can't set up a PC connection unless you do it through the Media/Music/Video tab...

Scuzzy i remberber having some trouble with the telkom router and my xbox when i tried it at my sisters place ( i use a linksys router at my place)

I got it to work you need to set your router up as a DHCP server which you have , now and check if the Xbox get an IP address from the router correctly? something like 10.0.0.3 .

sorry im working from memory here.

My Xbox has a valid IP
I can ping it from my PC when I do a Xbox Live test on it
The Network Map detect the Xbox, however - there is a 'Unknown Device' between my PC and the Xbox...
Only thing I haven't tried yet, is another router... fiddled with all the settings in mine, no luck
