Xbox 360 AVI Files

Hi, I just wanted to know if there's any way (except via PC) to play AVI files on Xbox? I think I have the latest update. Not too sure. Any insight?

Don't you normally copy the file to the HDD similar to the PS3?

Be on LIVE, try to play a Divx/XviD avi and you will be prompted to download the codec (optional media update).

I don't have Xbox Live (no internet connection at home) and I don't have an HDD either...

Can you get the Xbox Xvid/Avi update without xbox live? eg, online through pc?

They just saying the latest dashboard update has the needed patch so if you have a recent game, it should prompt for an update.

That sounds like the best idea. Xbox needs a major update to accomodate all AVI files. But thank you everyone for answering.

The media update is about 2-3 megs if memory serves right.

If you read his other post you will know he has a flashed console. I don't think he wants to get a PS3 just so he can only afford 1 new release per month. We pirates like to enjoy about 5 games a month (well depends on how many good releases there are that month, if it's 15, hell then we download all 15). We just roll like that.
