Xbox 360 crashed.

guess somebody had to fit into the 1% category of unlucky gamers hey?

how many PS2's had issues with drives? PSP's with dead pixels? PS2 & Xbox power cable failures?

out of 3 million Xbox 360's if 100 fail its still less than 1%... ;)

You do realise that the X-box run Microsoft software? Can anyone tell me of a single first-release Microsoft product that doesn't crash?
Anyone?

;)

well, at least in that respect you have a choice to MOD your Xbox 360 to linux, pity you cant do much with it other than run servers... :p

Lol @ Pox,

slashdot has got some screenies and vids of these crashes.
The forums dont indicate how big a problem this is though.
Perhaps a result of rushing the console for the holiday season ?

so out of 1 million US units sold how many have crashed?

Well no-one has numbers yet.

Mebbe it's just defective hardware in those instances.
But as mentioned earlier.

Buying a first version console is always risky cuz of bugs, rather wait a couple of months for the bugs to be ironed out and heh, by then the price would probably have dropped anyway.

i think MS will drop the prices mid-2006 to force Sony to loose even more money on their PS3... should be fun to watch all three giants slug it out... :D

Or perhaps now that Sony know's what it's facing it can beef up it's specs and still charge what it wanted to whilst tooting it's consoles superior power.

I'll play the waiting game. As innovative as Nintendo are trying to be i dont see them upsetting M$ & $ony in this race. Of course i would lurv them to prove me wrong.

EDIT: Of course end users will not be complaining about a price war.

Microsoft to fix/replace consoles

REDMOND, Wash. - Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday it had received isolated reports of technical problems with its popular new
Xbox 360 videogame system.

Some owners complained that their systems were crashing during game play, sometimes with error messages popping up. On http://www.xbox-scene.com, a site dedicated to Xbox gaming, a member called jsgongwon reported that he could not finish the first lap of "Project Gotham Racing 3."

"It's a few reports of consoles here and there not working properly," said Molly O'Donnell, a spokeswoman for Microsoft's Xbox division. "It's what you would expect with a consumer electronics instrument of this complexity .... par for the course."

Gaming fanatics lined up for hours Monday to be among the first to purchase the next-generation system, which was in short supply despite its starting price tag of $299.99. Microsoft hopes to sell 2.5 million to 3 million of the new systems in the first 90 days.

O'Donnell urged anyone with Xbox problems to call 1-800-4myXbox or go to http://www.xbox.com. If the problems can't be resolved immediately, Microsoft said it will pay to ship the console overnight to a repair center, overnight it back once it's fixed, or ship a replacement.

I'm sure the customers who didn't get the console won't be happy with this arrangement although I think it's the best way to go.:)
