I'm getting my xbox 360 this Wednesday!!! :D

Now, I'm still waiting for my adsl line to be installed, but in the
mean time, do any of you know how much bandwith the xbox 360 games
use on average per hour?

I know that the number will vary between games, but just want to get
an idea of what to expect.

How is the console holding up??? Meeting expectations???? or is it forcing you to think of getting an HD tv?????

the new consoles have advantages to a R14k rig which you need to upgrade every year... come to think of it the next-gen console games will make an SLI rig bleed as well... ;)

The console is incredible!
COD2 is something to behold and geometry wars (arcade game) is a must!
I must admit though, the HDTV thought keeps popping into my head, but I'll
have to wait till the prices come down a bit and that could take a while....

cant your TV run at least at EDTV resolutions? Progressive scan works a beauty with my current Xbox and PS2 games, and the X360 can run @ 720x480 with 4xAA as well! ;)

if your current TV has component cable inputs at the back then it has some form of progressive scan support... the X360's component cables give you EDTV by default if HDTV isnt set manually.

HDTV's aren't that expensive, I bought a fantastic Samsung 74cm CRT 1080i from game for R5k (you geta free DVD player with it now as well :p ). Sure it's no Plasma, but it's still really nice.

there is a catch doobi, there is real HDTV and "HDTV ready", the latter is not really a standard and is a marketing gimmick. :(

Besides, all PAL CRT TV sets only broadcast HDTV @ 50hz and all games and consoles made for HDTV only work @ 60hz.

its a bummer but its worth reading about HDTV before doing the buying. ;)
