Hardware prices will be going up though. So it's not all good news

Lay the blame squarely at the distributors of Xbox 360 products in this country.
They set the RRP, shops can only comply to make something out of the deal.

Hmmm well according to shopto.net, Skate 2 is going for £39,and they seem pretty good. That amount was meant as a "maximum price", to be as fair as possible to local distributers.
But you are 100% correct, and prices here are still above what they should be with many Xbox 360 titles going for as little as £25

Too late - I started buying from shopto.net in December and *I* can confirm that I will never buy local again. Delivery in under two weeks for GBP 3.50. Ample bargain bin, discounted and on-sale items available, not to mention items not even available in South Africa.

never even heard of 'em. Have you had any delivery problems? And is it as simple as say buying from take2, only that you are paying in £?

You had me excited with the "Gears of War 2 for R518 at kalahari.net"... But unfortunately we must be visiting different deserts as I see it as R591 http://www.kalahari.net/games/Gears-of-War-2/372/33096934.aspx

I have however noticed that other game prices went up. I was looking at MK vs. DC last week at kalahari.net (R554) and now it is going for R615. Hope this is the exception.

I knew it wouldn't happen...the backlash would have been too great. Still going to carry on importing where I can though as >R600 a game is still a bit heavy.

just goes to show, Xbox is more expensive than PC.
PC games are usually 50%-60% of the price of the same Xbox game. If you buy 20 games for your Xbox, you might as well have bought a PC.
thats the big problem with consoles, they sell them at 50% of cost and then NAIL you on the games

Hi,
although I am not an Xbox user, the same pricing woes are hitting the PS3 users. Little Big Planet was retailing for around R840 in December. I thought i'd try Shopto.net, where it was listed on Sale for £19.99. In total with £3.50 International post it reflected on my CC as R336 and a few cents. I ordered mine on Xmas eve and it arrived 12 Jan, and no duties required. I see LBP is now listed for R695 at a few retailers, but it still worked out cheaper to use Shopto, albeit only because it was listed as on Sale. From now on I will check Shopto.net before I set a foot into SA retail.
Jusr my 2c worth (or should that be 12c worth with inflation)
