Xbox 360 Remotes not working

Been a while since I used my Xbox. Tried turning on controllers, no power. Open up to see that with both of them the batteries leaked. Tried with new batteries but controllers still won't turn on. What's up?

Perhaps the batteries leaked into the controller too and corroded something else, have you tried opening one up?

No I have not, although from what I can see there is only a little bit of acid on one of the contacts of each remote (don't think it got inside), someone just told me I'm gonna have to try and clean that otherwise the remote is a boomerang with buttons.

Managed to get one of them working via scraping with a knife, swabbing with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Letting the other one's battery pack lay in a vinegar & soda mix for a while, it got rusted pretty badly. Atleast if I don't get it working I could just buy a play and charge kit and not a whole remote.
