Interesting stuff!

I won't comment on the RROD fix other than the fact that the way the x-clamp's are removed is good.

Allot of DIY repair jobs break or scratch traces on the motherboard, which means I must get my soldering iron and magnified lamp out to sort out the problem.

However, I've spent thousands on getting professional level equipment so I will stick to my methods. That method bakes the motherboard (@ 80 degrees or so). Proper reflow of the cold solder joint happens at temperatures between 130 & 160 degrees.

I will actually wage a bet that such a console will RROD a few months down the line again. Just a gut feeling ...
