XBOX 360 vs PS3???

@Tibby: Technically BioShock and HL are also on PC, but I'd still say console's a better experience - no stupid online anti-piracy checks, no complicated installs, no mandatory driver updates, no constant hardware upgrades. That's why I went from Pc to console.

The same here ... d/l Episode 2 via Steam and it crashed deciding my Audigy 2 ZS (thanks to the ultra outdated lame drivers from Creative) is no longer worthy playing for more than 1 minute before locking up.

I have totally given up on PC gaming now that a viable alternative exists.

seing as you have a pc, and some of the xbox titles spill over to pc anyway, why not try a wii? the fun factor is through the roof

xbox is good and all yes, but it is more fun to play with others than to play with yourself

<insert self pleasuring joke here>

To honest, if you hadn't limited the choices to PS3/360 I'd have suggested the Wii.

I have a PC for the "serious" games. A Wii for the fun of something different. To me they go very well together. The plus side being my GF plays on Wii with me. While if I'm on my pc she bugs me for attention.

Super Mario Galaxy is an embarrassment. It's an embarrassment for platform games. It's an embarrassment for adventure games. It's an embarrassment for Nintendo and an embarrassment for the Wii. What have we all been playing at in the ten years since Super Mario 64 came out? This is what gaming ought to be like.

Bright, bold, unrepentantly loony, Galaxy is everything you wanted it to be. It's beautiful and inventive. It's pure-blood Mario without being a retro indulgence. It's a stiff platforming challenge and a free-wheeling romp. It's the best thing on Wii, and the best traditional game Nintendo has made in a decade. The only thing about it which dulls your enjoyment is the memory of all the mediocre games you've had to play in the meantime.

10/10

Ten more days till I can place an order at Take2. Can't wait.

Eternal Sonata for Xbox makes the Xbox > Wii, PC and even PS3 (until that game comes out for PS3).

Peter, if that's your thing I won't mention Lost Odyssey, for fear you may have a seizure ;)

Eternal Sonata is very cool, I'm going to try get my hands on it as soon as I can find the time it deserves.

Taking hardware and framerate out of the equation (it's about games isn't it?) i would go for the Xbox360. (relax, i own neither)

Based on games for the xbox and their replay value it is a better option imo.

Sure ps3 got resistance but what else in this fps genre?

With Xbox you are looking at Gears of War (fps imo), Halo's, Call of Duty, Rainbow 6

Addmittedly ps3 got some of these as well as ports it is worth noting that ports are not as polished in terms of looks and gameplay compared to its original counterpart.

I would've loved to buy a Wii. But its too expensive for what you get IMHO. The current price just feels like a giant rip off for a "fun, simple console".

Now if it was R2000 for a console plus and extra Wiimote and nunchuck, awesome.

That was always Nintendo's aim and selling strength for the Wii. Unfortunately we were shafted, as usual, by our suppliers who like Telkom are enjoying their monopoly on the market for specific items

Even though there is a lot of controversy on the topic it is very simple. A Xbox360 will be able to keep up with the PS3 for the next fout years or so - but unless they improvise, MS will have a problem with game sizes. 360 uses DVDs for games thus its max capacity is 8gb, blu-ray can go up to 50gb. This has already been a problem for the dev team from Ubisoft with the creation of Assassins Creed. I have a 360 and will be buying my PS3 Q2 next year. Also, going for one console will damage your game range since Sony and Microsoft each buy exclusive rights eg. Splinter Cell vs Metal Gear Solid. Also, PS3 isnt really going through a "teething process", it has had one of the most successful launches in the console history and also there is a 40gb out for R4500.00 and that will probably drop after Christmas.

2 posts virtually identical....

unfortunately for the vast majority of people saying we should get both consoles is just not possible.

Also the chance of another PS3 price cut after Christmas is slim to none and slim just left the building...

Likewise the PS3 is going to suffer due to lack of RAM

You do also realize that games can be spanned across multiple Dual Layer DVD's on the 360...e.g. Blue Dragon.

I don't know Gav, Sony's desperate, and $400 is still not mainstream. They have to improve the install base now or they're in massive trouble. I could quite easily see them losing a few billion on PS3 over the next 3-4 years just to get ahead.

As always I'm still more interested in how the others will react.

I don't really give a crap which machine is coolerz, betterz or how much more advanced it is than the ISS and which one can cook an egg the fastest.

I'll going to get a 360, because its currently the best choice economically and its got more games I want to play.

Games also look more or less the same on both systems so the PS3's extra cpu muscle is pretty much pointless at the moment( I'm sure its due to most games being designed for the "lesser" 360 and simply being ported to the PS3 to save def costs, so that'll probably change with time. But until then...)

I'll definitely get a PS3 to join my 360 when its reasonably priced and gets a little more meat on its skinny catalog of games.

I think thats what most people are hoping for. I knows its what I'm thinking...

Sony has already cut the price in the USA and in the UK. Thus it will be forced to drop in SA, also the high prices where due to the lack of blu-lasers. Also PS3 has a combined ram count of 512, XBox only has 525 - thus not really a big difference at all - PS2 took ten years to reach the quality they did with God of War 2 so buying an Xbox is pretty safe still.

Owning two consoles aint impossible - Ive been saving for a year now and only need to go another four months then viola!
