Dumb question I know... but I need to ask...

Im lookin to buy a fresh XBOX360 Pro.. so in the pack we get a Wireless Controller (with a battery I presume) and I go home in the excitement of the moment without buying the battery charger pack for around R200..

So once my battery dies, do I have to get a charger pack or does the Pro bundle come with any other charging device as standard? :o

It comes with disposable batteries. So no, unfortunately no charging device is included. :(

You would have to shell out on new disposable batteries or a charger kit. It uses AA batteries, which actually last for a while, but I would think that the charger pack pays for itself in a few months, depending on how much you play.

I dont know if the battery pack has any significant advantage over standard AA rechargeable batteries does it?

it’s just more convenient, if the battery dies while playing you can just plug in the recharge cable. :)

Yeah I've got the cable and battery pack but I'm still not convinced it was worth the extra money. Then again I have 24 rechargeable AA batteries in my camera bag alone :D

Dunno, I was actually talking about disposable batteries. ;)

But I have no idea how much a normal charger costs... So I suppose it could be cheaper to use normal rechargeable batteries rather than the battery pack.

These days you can pick up 4 batteries with a charger for r100-r150.

Just make sure to buy AA rechargables that are 2500mA or more to ensure long play sessions.

Standard rechargeable batteries and a charger would make more sense. There are so many things that use AA and AAA batteries.

Which is exactly why I bought the battery packs... I don't want to have to stop playing because my kids toys need more batteries...

The Hybrio's are only 2100ma but they really do go the distance (plus they hold their charge like standard batteries).

Like Bwana I have so many that there is always some device from which some can be scavenged for the hour it takes to recharge a set, without having to resort to crippling mission critical devices like my game contollers.

It can be brand dependent. Some battery tests I've seen show certain brands drastically overstating their battery's capacity. One make's 2500mAh could be another's 2100mAh.

I'll just nod knowingly in agreement with that ;) Funnily enough it's my "no-name brand" 2500's that last longer than my branded ones.

What I find is that alkaline batteries last a lot longer than the 2500 rechargables, but they're darn expensive to run. I also Have a pool of wireless devices - Mice, Baby monitors, camera's, controllers, so I just have a big pile of rechargeables to service all of them. However, I do believe the official 360 battery packs last longer than rechargeables.

Battery Packs who needs them ;)
Apparently the Energizer rechargables are pretty good, are there not some kind lithium ion solution?

Much to my dismay I found this wasn't enought for Halo on Live last night. We were playing split screen and one of the controllers died, leaving both screens unplayable evetually :(

On my Wii it doesn't just flash a little green circle it sure as hell lets you know your batteries are empty and its game over. Anyway, they are charging, but I think at least 8 batteries are necessary (4 in the controllers and 4 charging).

Tho I might buy some additional ones to avoid the mission of swapping in and out on the Wii/360 controllers.

Did you buy the hybiros or another brand/model? I've got at least 2 dozen in my camera bag so running out is unlikely :D

To be fair, we had put in a good 15 hours of Halo on each controller this weekend. Probably should've recharged on Sat night when I was out. Also the mA are fairly low. Point is you gotta recharge them at some point. If you don't realise early enough, you're buggered if you only have 4 batteries.

It is someother brand, but I need to get some more rechargables. You recommend Hybrios? What about Energizers? 2500mA? 2100mA?

Yep - those are all I use these days. :)
