xbox 360

Those games are all old, rather just get a Vanilla Pro, I think HiFi Corp has them for about R2950, and use the extra money on some good classics like Gears and Crackdown.

EDIt: Not that they're bad games - but you can pick them all up super cheap on trade or second hand.

That's not a bad price but it's the slightly older 20gb Pro, the new ones are all 60Gb, and personally I'd pay the extra R200 for the extra 40Gb.

EDIT: what you could do is look at something like that CNA special they're advertising with the R500 to open an account, I think you get 3 vouchers for 3 purchases, the first is R200 you can use on the Box and the others you can use to discount games. Then cut up the account card and never use it again ;)

im not going to be downloading any content and heard the new models drives cant be flashed?

Yes - as above the 60g is slightly more.
Get it at CNA if possible their return policy is very good.

I dont suggest flashing anything and you will want to go online at some stage.
It is just not worth it to pay R2000+ for something to only have some of the functionality. I never used to think that I'll go online and get games etc, once you do it though you start understanding the value fo XBL.

Im not one to suggest Piracy, but to eliminate speculation with fact, you can use the Xbox Live services as long as you don't play your backups that are not injected with the very advanced security sector files.

I utilise a flashed Xbox in order to preserve my, very expensive, games. Each time I buy the game, I go on the internet, find the very tiny security files, and proceed in burning the games. The reason I go through all this trouble is that my Xbox 360 destroyed a R700 game of mine a few months back, it was non-refundable, I was very disappointed with the lack of support out here in South Africa. So disappointed in point of fact that I turned to my own resourcefulness instead.

I believe the lack of Xbox Live support, and the lack on various other tiers of service, gives us a valid motive. Arguing against said fact would be a clear lack of acknowledgement of our current status-quo given the international consumer market.

I am a happy Xbox 360 gamer who uses Xbox Live as well at the moment, with a very Grey Xbox 360.

look I agree with Kage, if you flash your 360 you lose out on a huge amount of what the 360 is really about, and you'll lose out on the new dash updates which may be a requirement for future games.

But if you're set on flashing it, then the HDD is useless to you anyway. You might as well just get the Arcade which is currently on special at Musica for R1800 bundled with FIFA08.

Just as a note: I work with someone who chipped their 360, and they regret it. Looking at all the XBLA games and downloadable content like the new Halo expansion they have no access to that, or Live, so much so they're in the process of buying a new Xbox. Myself, My 360 is unchipped but I've managed to play over 130 different games in around 18 months through trading, 2nds and rentals. You really don't need to chip.

Doobiwan is right, I suggest flashing ONLY for BACKUP purposes. There are ways to sidestep Xbox Live banning, I have been actively using Xbox Live for months now, BUT, there exists the chance of an update negating your flashed rom and even the security sectors injected in the games.

Ultimately if you are hell bent on using Xbox Live, and with the December patch allowing games to be loaded from the Hard drive, eliminating the scartched disc problems, don't flash your box.

I'm also guilty of this ... as I offer a firmware mod service to clients. It's business at the end of the day!

That be said, you can use Live with the hacked firmware. You do have to be careful if your are going to run backup copies on Live though. As saffakanera said, the backup copy must be patched with certain security sector files.

It makes no difference if you go on Live with originals however.

How the job hunting going saff?

Hey mate :) Almost done with the course, when im complete with everything im going to be spamming CV's like there is no tomorrow or the day after!

PDonut - yeah lol at the genre :D just call me Reverend doobiwan . . :p

I don't think it is old, - the price is right - but it might be a 20Gb.

My suggestion: Print out the online ad, take it to claim it in store and if they try to give you a 20Gb, kick up a storm in store that it didn't say that and a "pro" is 60gb these days :D
