Hi, i've been struggling with this forever now and finally decided to ask for help. I have a Mega 100WR router and want to connect my pc to my xbox. I have both my xbox and pc connected to the router. I have enabled DHCP on my router and upnp. My firewalls are down. Tried wmp11 media sharing on xp and media center on vista. No matter what i do my pc and xbox do not see each other. My xbox live works perfectly though. I tried deleting the DRM folder stuff as well. I have had this connection running before but it seems since NXE i can't get it to work again at all... When i set my xbox network settings to automatic it comes back with only 0.0.0.0 or a random ip that isn't part of my network. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Make sure that in WMP you have set up your xbox to be one of the items that can share the files with. It is normally as simple as that.
Cince your connect your 360 via your router to net it cant be the network settings.

Vista should pick up the XBox without any settings; if they're on the same network you should get a little popup asking if you want to share. Your addresses are DHCP assigned, I assume, yet you claim you are getting 0.0.0.0 or a random ip. How do you connect to Live! if this is the case? I'm just trying to ascertain whether you are visible on your network or not.

Xbox and pc can't see each other

I would think turning them around to face each other would help.
Perhaps draw eyes on them?

/runs for it :D

Thanks for the replies.Tried all of that already, no luck =(
I don't understand why my live works still. Thinks it's cause it's just using my router as a modem, you don't really need the network running cause i have to enter my username and pass. Thanks

thats is exactly what i am doing. my router is setup in bridged mode which requires me to setup the pppoe connection from the xbox.

and after many fruitless hours of trying to figure out WHY this doesn't work, somebody on the xbox360 forums mentioned that you cannot see other pc's on the network when you setup your xbox like i did.

so, in short, no, you cannot connect to your PC with your current configuration.

What do you mean by unidentified? Yip media sharing is on and my connection is wired.

To eye suc, i have had it working in this setup twice before. Once when i got my xbox then it stopped then struggled to get it working again then it stopped again after nxe upgrade and now i just can't get it back at all.

Does it show 2 screens with a globe ontop?

Is the cable a cross-over cable?

Hmm, something is funny..

FWIW:

My PS3 is connected wirelessly to a linksys, connected to a 105WR (which I just re-routed to the linksys) - and works fine.
Did you try connecting straight to a switch and then straight to the PC?

not too sure about the unidentified. The cable is the one that came with the xbox, not sure if it is cross-over. In vista when i go to the network map i can see the xbox. But if i try media sharing or adding a extender it doesn't work. I've tried lots of stuff that I've read from searching the net. Was just wondering that maybe it's not a OS problem but maybe a problem with the router settings since the mega 100WR is a local router. Is there any settings you know of that could help on my router?

Disable the router firewall, enable uPnP and put your Xbox 360's IP address into the DMZ field in the router.

Disabled firewall and enabled uPnP . Still no luck. How do i add the ip to the DMZ?

Somewhere in your router's settings, there's a dropdown box for DMZ and one of the IP's in the dropdown should be your Xbox 360's, select it. The DMZ option is somewhere in the port forwarding section IIRC.

Found it, assigned selected the ip I assigned the xbox, but still no luck. I noticed something though. When i choose auto network settings for xbox it either displays 0.0.0.0 for all settings or 196.210.146.167 for the ip and 0.0.0.0 for the rest. Also when i assign an ip to it with the correct gateway etc and check the network map on vista it says my xbox's ip is 196.210.146.167... I really don't know WTH is going on
