Ok, so I'm contemplating going and buying a new Xbox 360 this afternoon before the prices go up. My last one was stolen.

So my question is:

Is the pro 60gb worth the extra dosh?
I dont plan on storing any media on the xbox, I really just want it for games.

So I suppose storage will mostly be used on save games etc. It comes with a 256mb memory unit, but I have an 8gb flash drive that I used to watch stuff off on my old Xbox, will i be able to save games on the flash drive?

I would usually just get the pro, but my TV and PS3 also need to be replaced, so I'm looking to save where I can.

Also, apart from the HD, are there any other differences? I may just buy a new HD in a few months if I need it.

Well, the HDD is very useful with NXE in installing the games you play to the HDD, reducing load times and texture pop-in in many games. Also, if you are planning on connecting to Live, an HDD is an absolute necessity.

If you don't plan on doing any of those, the Arcade should suffice.

Crap, now that u mention live...

I completely forgot. Yes, I definatly want live, even if its just to upgrade the Codex for watching avi files.

Dammit. Looks like its the 60GB pro. Thanks

You cannot save games to a flash drive. The other addition in the Pro package is the component cable. You will only get a composite one with the Arcade.

Looked at several tests. Makes a difference to load times on some games. Primary gain though is just reduced noise.

For what?

I'm sure you can save to the flash if its formatted as FAT (might be wrong)

Well, you will probably want to download all the updates and DLC for the various games, as well as some of the (brilliant) XBLA games available on the Marketplace. AFAIK a memory card or flash drive just won't cut it.

Why not get the arcade. Isn't the reduce hard drive program coming to SA soon? then you can get a cheap 20gig hdd. Either that or wait for the Live starter kit.

...OR pay in a few bucks extra for the Pro. I mean there isn't THAT big of a price difference, is there?

Its about R900 extra. Hmmmmm. Well at this point I am struggling to even find a Pro 60 GB at the old price R2700...everyone is out of stock and the new stock will come in at the new prices :/

If the arcade isn't out of the question HI Fi corp have it at R1779. A good deal if you ak me.

Well I settled for the Arcade, mainly because I could not find the pro ANYWHERE. I literally called every CNA,MUSICA,Look and listen and incredible connection in Joburg.

The only places that had it had it at the new price which is fail IMO (R3700 PRO 60GB).

Luckily, Game at Cresta still had the Arcade at R1799. It still performs the most important task: Plays games.

And I cant really complain at the price tag. Thanks for the input chaps
