I dunno whether to choose between the mongoose or the pro. Apparently the mongoose has newer hardware etc and doesn't break easily but they all have warantee so you are covered when they break?

1. All the models have a 3 year instant swap out warranty against the Red Ring of doom
2. All models have a 1 year instant swap out against all other problems
3. The Pro bundle is the old hardware
4. The Mongoose has the next level up and the arcade has the newest.

If you like the look of the Mongoose then get the one from Kalahari.net for R3199 which is a very very good price.

If you are not planning on going on Live then you should also take a look at the Arcade.

The arcade doesn't come with a hard drive so thats why you can't play on live? I also have a question about HDMI, does HDMI make a difference on normal not-HD tvs?

and this deal from the company whoes name can't be said:

Telkom has launched an Xbox 360 special, offering the gaming console to consumers at a reduced rate.

Telkom is offering consumers an XBox 360 Gaming Console, 2 x XBox 360 Wireless Controllers, 256 MB Memory unit for game saves and 5 free arcade games at either R108.75 per month or R3007.99 once off.

The 5 free arcade games are Uno, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2.

The first 600 customers will also receive a video phone worth R699.00 free with their XBox 360.

This new special is set to start on Monday, and through this Telkom seems to be spreading its wings further into the entertainment space.

Telkom has already made its intentions clear regarding becoming a converged services provider through Telkom Media, and this latest gaming focus further confirms that they are exploring additional revenue streams.

According to feedback from a MyADSL forum member who visited one of the Telkom branches the XBox’s are selling like sweetcakes even though the deal is officially only set for launch on Monday.

No you can play on Live just fine with the arcade model.. However you won't be able to download demo's or many map packs...

The actual multiplayer experience does not need a hard drive

OK, you got your answers here but then still posted it over there. To tell you the truth, I've known since you registered here for the 3rd time that you're HelloThere. I even mentioned it to you in the 360 forums when you registered there AGAIN.

Now I really don't have a problem answering gaming console related problems or questions you may have or the fact that you registered again but I really doubt that you're serious about buying any console any time soon, I could be wrong and if I am I'm sorry. So the mods here are probably gonna let you stay which is fine so don't mess it up and don't troll.

To answer your question. I wouldn't go for an Arcade for the simple fact it doesn't have a HDD. If go on Live with it, you're definitely gonna want to get XBLA games and addons for retail games so a memory unit won't cut it. Last I checked, prices for MS' HDDs are ridiculous so rather go a console that already has the HDD.

Thanks for your answer feo. I'm actually going to buy a console today. The arcade one from incredible connection I think.

Some people don't get a hint :D

Thanks for pointing this out so quickly feo...

Pooky did you ever manage to sell that chipped Wii?

I'm offended, no one dare parade as Pooky. Pooky is Legend.

On the console. The arcade is a great entry point, you can always buy an HDD later, but total value is better on a Pro bundle. It's not true that all pro's are without HDMI the Halo bundle unit definitely has, just look on the back of the box it has "HDMI" in big letters at the bottom.

House & Home has the same package for R150 less, but then pop into Incredible Connection & get a 2nd controller with 2 Tiger Woods & WWE for R550

Hi, thanks for all the info guys, I bought the arcade bundle from Incredible connection today, plus an extra controller.
