Heads up. If you have an ELITE 2 controller and are having issues with it. With class action lawsuit looming regarding the ELITE 2 controller quality, Microsoft has extended the pathetic 3 month warranty to a year now. Had issues with mine from the get go (RH bumper) and have managed to log a return/replacement. Lets let's see what happens.

Just received new unit. Took about a week. Was pretty impressed seeing that it is not sold officially in South Africa. I doubt there have been any internal changes and it has just been swapped out with new unit in the hope it does not break again. Time will tell.

I am now on my 5th (!!!) Elite 2 controller. The Microsoft support service in South Africa is fairly efficient, but it seems they just send you another broken refurbished controller. I traded in a non-functioning A button for a broken right stick now. I have another month of returning before the warranty runs out. :/

That is crazy. New one holding up so far. I did read that there was a design change internally on RHBB somewhere which was the issue mine had.

Where did you buy yours if I may ask?

Amazon Germany. I gave up returning it till I saw the new warranty extension. They eventually refunded after the 4th time. I keep getting the unresponsive A button problem.

Yup was in same boat. Bought mine off Amazon and had a friend bring it over. Pleasantly surprised by the support I got from Microsoft I must say. Faith restored but I'm hoping the controller goes the distance. Its an expensive piece of kit.

lol. So kids replacement Elite 2 lasted lasted about 45 days. Yesterday the thing totally died on him as in would not power on. Checked my Microsoft account and it said the new unit warranty was only good until 20/12/2020. Phoned up Microsoft and actually the units warranty was good until April 2021.

Besides the schlep of ordering replacement unit which is about a 2 week process, at this rate I think my son will be stocked up on new Elite 2 controllers for the foreseeable future. Great deal.

My replacement also has the "A button does not work when pressed at certain angles" problem. Are there actually any of these controllers that don't have this problem?

Very doubtful at this point. Its ridiculous.

Bumping this old thread but just wanted to check what the feeling is on these controllers atm. Son wants one for birthday so thinking of getting him and myself one, but as far as I can find online the quality issues are still there.

They are brilliant and the issues really are few and far between.

That’s what the warranty is for.

Second this.

Had mine for ~6 months now and no issues whatsoever.

Added it to my MS account for warranty if I need it but very happy with it so far.
