Hi

I've got a 4mb (mweb uncapped) adsl line and I'm playing Black Ops online. My signal "bar" is only ever a maximum of 2 bars orange and I notice quite a bit of lag in game.

How do I force the xbox to play against south africans and is the 2 bar orange normal? Would unshaped webafrica make it better?

Regards
J.

Im not sure if you can force i to only local games. You can try unshaped, but doubt it would make a lot of a difference in a fps game hosted somewhere in America or Europe.

There is a setting that you can change before you search for a game that will look for local players. Before you "find a match" you can press the back arrow button on the remote and select "locale only". (there are 3 options, default / locale / locale only)

You can also add me as a friend. Gamertag: stofgogga za
See you on live.

Xbox Live is the popular gaming console that has sold million devices all over the world. It allows both online games and DVD based games. When you buy it, you get usually a two month free trial card that contains the basic Xbox Live codes that allow you to play the games of the console free for two months. Once this trial period ends though, you need to buy the codes or find them somewhere else.
In order to use the Xbox live codes you need to have an internet connection and access to broadband; ADSL and cable usually work better, because you will need to have a fast speed connection to play your games easily. The codes give access to games like Heroes, Battlefield 2, Star wars, or others, depending on the card you have got and the availability of games at any given moment. You can create your personal account connecting to the gaming console. Once you set up your first account and give the codes, you will be notified that these codes are valid for two months. Once this free period is over, you cannot use any additional trial cards; you will have to pay for your subscription or use some other valid codes.

^^ Ja, uhm anyway, back on topic...

I use a WA 384kbps line, and i also get 1-2bars, so I doubt line speed helps much which sucks. You can set 'locale only', but what does this use as your setting? If you have a UK live account, does it think you're in the UK? I'm currently playing on a free trial account(30days), but the locale only setting doesn't seem to work for me.

with 2 bars lag shouldn't be too terrible, perhaps you are just not a good player? if you are good enough you can still win, i know because i still rape people with my 2 bar mweb connection, dont run around randomly like a noob, stay in ads when you round corners/enter rooms and obviously pre fire when appropriate.

hahaha dude, come on, you have to admit its pretty much impossible to knife okes 1-on-1 with the 2bar lag. Yes you can try play to the lag like you've said, and try to anticipate where people will be, but its not ideal and can be quite frustrating.

I can often get into the top 3 of a game, but there's definitely a great disadvantage for us. You watch the replays...sometimes to you, you've offloaded about 4-5shots into the guy before you've been killed, but the replay shows you just walking towards the hi,m like a headless chicken waiting to get shot - without firing a single shot off.
Although that being said, you can feel pretty chuffed when you can pwn okes on our connections...shows some skillz. I'd love to try on a proper connection - level the playing field.

knifing generally sucks in blops though, lag or no lag, i sometimes play mw2 for a fix of mlc knife rampages :p

i still believe if you move around the map correctly you can overcome the 2 bar connection, non ads weapons ie: dual wield guns can help in leveling the field if you are able to use them properly... maneuver close to the enemy, flank etc, past few days i have been using dual ps10 shotguns and they are awesome, when i use them on certain maps its pure rape for the opposing team... only some maps though.

Assign your Xbox a static IP and put it in the DMZ if your router allows this. Otherwise check online for proper port forwarding for the Xbox.

This will set your NAT to Open which made a difference for me, though this was some time back...
