Xbox Live and Saved Games + Achievements

If I sync my xbox live account with my recent achievements in Guitar Hero 2. And I retrieve my account from another xbox... would my saves me transferred too? Or would I have to play ALL the songs again?

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do, but what I can tell you is that recovering will wipe one of the two accounts, I believe the Live account takes preference but I'm not sure.

As far as saves go, those are local to the Xbox, so transferring a profile won't take across the save games. However I believe you can transfer saved games using a memory card.

Has anyone bought the 120Gig hard drive and tried to transfer their stuff across? I'm thinking of doing this since I always seem to be about to run out of space, but don't want to lose saved games or profiles.

There is a cable you get, I'm not sure if it comes with the drive, but it allows you to transfer everything across, then formats the 20Gb. I always thought Game rental places should hire them out.

Basically:

I have a live account on Xbox360 A.
I have a friend who has XBox360 B.

On Xbox360 A, I have x Achievements and x Gamer points with my Live account and have played through all the Easy and Medium songs with 5 Stars. Unlocking a lot of material and bought all of the Bonus songs.

When I sync my Live account it reflects my Achievements and Gamer Points, but does it also keep a reference of what stuff I unlocked on Xbox360 A.... and then when I do a recover on Xbox360 B... does this reflect or do I have to play through EVERYTHING again unlocking the Achievements and Gamer points AGAIN as well as all the Bonus songs and guitars?

From what I understand from your message, saved games (which will include my bonus songs and guitars unlocked and my progress) won't be saved online, only my Gamer Points and Achievements.

So I have to buy a memory card or can I use a USB stick to transfer my saves?

Unfortunately you have to have the official MS Memory card.

Just convince another friend of yours to buy a 360 arcade

As an aside - the other advantage of using a memory card is that you don't need to recover your profile. You just store it on the card and take it with you. You can also store and play Live Arcade games off the card.

So if my Live account hasn't been synced in a while, I can just transfer the one with the extra achievements onto the memory card and then when I have the other XBox360 hooked up to live, sync it like that?

well you don't "sync" it. If you put your profile on the memory card it's no longer bound to the console hard drive, it's bound to the card. Ie, when you take it to your mates you don't have to recover the profile from live, you use your profile as is off the card.

That's as I understand it - apparently it's the way Major Nelson works because the lucky sod plays games all day at the office and takes his profile home to play as well.
