Does anyone know what protocol Live uses? The reason I ask is that my PC is linked to a main PC in the study with internet access. For some reason I couldn't get internet sharing to work between these so I installed a proxy on the main & connect that way. The issue with this is that while HTML and numerous other protocols do work - some don't (for example MIRC won't run).

Any idea what protocol(s) Live uses?

hehe ... ok. Thanks :P

And to confirm, usuage for online gaming is 30-50MB per hour - game dependant? Also, what connection do you use? Think HSDPA is too laggy?

Kerberos-Sec (UDP); Port 88; UDP; Send Receive
DNS Query (UDP); Port 53; Send
UDP and TCP ports 3074

I think HSDPA is too laggy and usage is very dependant on the game. I have heard Forza can chew up to 200Mb an hour

A lot of the usage is VoIP, so if you're worried disable it in game, although you'll be missing out.

I "hmm" about playing live over 3G/HSDAP but have never tried it. What I would suggest, if yo udo have a if you do have a fixed line and can get ADSL, just get a 1Gb/384 account, you can get one for about R169 a month from Cybersmart, and use it just for your 360, use the 3g for everything else.
