Hi guys, im interested in getting a 12 month Live subscription, but is it worth it? How do you guys rate the experience connection wise? How do games like halo play?

Find some local players on xbox-360.co.za, add them to your friends list and vwallah, good gaming at good speeds. And Halo plays well (though you play on Microsoft's international servers). Just make sure you have a decent connection.

Oh, by the way, I just remembered you get a free 1-month subscription with every user account on your xbox, so test-drive it first before you buy the 12-month.

Xbox Live makes the xbox worthwhile. I honestly don't think I would play nearly half as much as I do without it. As in the previous post, you won't have problems with any type of adsl. Most games (except EA games) allow you to match up with local players, so you don't get any lag. Hit the trial if you're still sceptical, but you can't go wrong :)

Ditto, Live is awesome, and it's only going to get better with the Fall update.

I'll put it to you this way, there's half a dozen games I want to buy I won't out of just sheer pointlessness, I can't tear myself away from playing Battlefield online. It was the same with Gears. I played it almost every night (with locals) for 9 months.

ADSL is a must, but 384 is fine.

doobi, tell me this bra, if i buy the 512 memory stick, ok stop looking at me that way, if i buy the memory stick, will i be able to play on Live and/or/maybe download XBLA games and store them on my little memory stick?

this topic is related to the HDD: Chicken Tooth one, but i feel the need to post here because if i have to click my mouse again my head might implode out of the sheer rage i feel towards my memory-less xbox 360

thank you.

apparently the games from XBLA are small (between 50mb and 150mb AFAIK) ..... I'm sure someone here told me that a mem card is fine for them ...... but wait for the chaps with Live to answer and confirm :D

lol, well regardless im going to go buy that effen stick TONIGHT, i hear the "installing to hdd" patch is only landing in December, by then i should have enough dough for the hdd. :)

sweeet.

Heh heh, sure you can, but will your friends still respect you in the morning? ;)

No seriously though, that'll be absolutely fine and Mephisto is right. All current XBLA games are 50-150Mb each, so you can even squeeze a few on there. (Only some of the still to be released ones go as high as 350Mb, but even then you're still covered)

The other bonus of using an MU is that you can take your profile with you to friends houses without the conflicts that "recovering tags" causes.

All XBLA content is licensed btw, in other words, if you buy a game and need to delete it from the MU to make space, you don't have to worry, you always "own" it and can download it again at anytime should you wish to.
