What the hell! I was at a friend's place and he bought a game off PSN for R90 (the price was even in a currency, not some strewd point system). I get home, find the exact same game for 800 points which equates to about R102. That's ontop of the R500 we pay per year for the subscription.

Another thing, following the latest PS3 firmware, from what I've seen the trophy system that the PS3 has introduced is even better than the Microsoft one (being able to compare achievements online etc). Microsoft is now officially sucking the hind teet in online offerings.

Microsoft's original excuse for ripping off people outside the US was that the exchange rate had changed, but they have not adjusted the prices since then, so its basically a lie. 800 US points would make the game cheaper.

I have a general objection to systems that require me to buy things that have no value like the points used on Xbox Live.

800pts = $10 = R77 (as of writing this)

If you're buying UK points you're paying UK VAT as well. That's it.

As far as points go, I'm busy trying to launch a multi currency internet app and for a million reasons an independent token systems is just easier and neater. I will agree though that not setting the values to something simple like $1= 10msp was just daft.

And while, yes I agree, it's MS's turn to respond in their online offering, hopefully with something free, PSN is still a way off Live. No cross game invites, no cross game voice chat, no FoF.

What I find far more annoying is how PSN games mess up the live experience. BFBC is a great example. It lacks a lot of typical Live features simply to maintain parity with the PS3 version.

But I cannot buy US points for my UK based Xbox surely?

They got chat in the last update didn't they?

Yea ... I have to agree. PS3 online does seem the better option. R500pa annoys me, as do points, buying points by lying about location, waiting for (initially) codes to be posted etc

We cannot to anything about location. Live is simply not officially over hear. Thailand and a few other countries also have to lie about location because of no official support. We aren't unique :(

R500 pa, where you buying subs? I paid R360 (US) the other day for 12+1 Gold card, as gold subs aren't region locked anymore. There are also MS cheaper points if you do a search online.

PSN won't be free forever either. The userbase is growing as more and more people go on line. Also PSN is mimicking alot of whats on Live, its competition after all. Seeing as the game developers are swallowing the costs of running servers for the individual games on PSN, it will be interesting to see when they grow tired of that situation.

Time will tell :D

Show us where?

You can create a second Silver profile on your 360 with a US account to buy DLC. It's still valid on all profiles on your console.

Cross game Text only. They've had in game voice all the time, but the 360 can do cross game (ie 2 different games) voice.

Yes, BUT MS still screw you by not allowing you to have access the DLC from your main account.

Tosh! ;)

DLC is available to all profiles on the consoles that originally downloaded it. It's only unavailable if you stick your HDD on another console. Even if you get a new console there's a new DRM tool that allows to to migrate your content.

Well I downloaded PinballFX for my fiance. She can play the full version on my profile but not on hers.

This thread still going on ...
