Xbox Live

I want to try out Xbox live and created an account etc.

Here's the issue: I used my university email which is a live account as well to put in my gamer tag etc. Now turns out this account for some reason says the region is UK; this means I can't purchase a subscription through microsoft.

Will a card subscription code work and does it matter that the account is UK? Also howcome the subscription cards are R100 for a month but through microsoft it is half that?

Not sure what I should do here as I like my gamertag so don't want to create a new account and I also have a game from arcade registerred to this account.

The region does not matter cause games still match with internationals even if you are on UK or ZA live so it doesn't matter. MW3 will still try and match you with ZA players first.

The live prepaid cards are usually not region specific but the prepaid points are. The site I linked you to sells them. You can buy them everywhere in fact.

I think you will have dificulties registering a UK region account cause you need a valid uk address which you can google if you really want to. Ohh and you will get UK related content which means prices will be in pounds. The ZA live portal have some specials sometimes and prices are displayed in zar not sure if the prices are more or less expensive.

Thanks I just bought a 1 month sub on that site.

My account is already UK based for some reason. My university are using Windows Live accounts for all the stydents and I used that account to create my gamertag and for some reason the region is UK.

Can't you just migrate your account to SA?

Its not essential, but it should be possible if that's what you want.
