Xbox may back Blu Ray

As mentioned somewhere else on this forum, it could be very interesting. Btw, how does the HD-DVD (or whatever player they support) connect to the 'box? Can they have games in the higher format too ... or only movies?

Higher format is misleading as you can get 1080p on DVD's just fine. You may just need more than one disc.

Which is conveniently forgotten by Sony when claiming that they need all of that space to be on a single disc. Blue Dragon on the 360 was spanned quite well I hear.

No that space will be needed one day, however Microsoft have stated that they will not allow games to be published on HD-DVD (or now Blu-Ray) as every game must be playable on every single console. That is not an option.

When the new Xbox comes out in 2010/2012 then they will add in a better drive and obviously use the space

Which is a good call. They will be cheaper then and extremely necessary. Why pull a Sony and wait for the technology to catch up before launching?

Wow, so by late '08 Sony will have the upper hand... in the mean time, M$ has dominated for 3 years, and will be only 2 years away from their next console, while the PS3 still has like 5 years to go in its life cycle.
