I am about to swap my Blackberry 9530 Storm for a Xbox 360 (flashed) with 10 games and 2 wireless controllers.

Now being a noob I want to know are there any pitfalls I should look out for before agreeing to swap?

What should I check to ensure I don't end up with a Xbox that's as useless as Barbie's & Kent's genitals :D

You probably won't be able to access Live if it's flashed as it will be banned.

Not really into online gaming. Just looking for a device that I can play some games on. Any other issues with a flashed device?

Live is not just about online gaming. You will not be able to get stuff from the Xbox Marketplace either (Arcade games, add-ons, DLC, etc.).

If you're ok with all of that, then the general consensus seems to be that it depends who flashed the device. If it was some shady dude in a dark corner of the flea market then you should avoid at all costs. The problem with buying second hand is you don't know who flashed it.

You sure you wont want to even try online ever? I wouldn't do it.

Hmmm, I also thought I'd never try online when I bought mine...until about 3years later I tried it...

Its pretty much the only way I play now.

Your phone is worth more than the console and those "cheap" games.

I have a LIFE :p online games IMHO are for people living in there mom's basement :D nah just kidding. I have never and will never be a online gamer. I just want a console to play some games with my 2 girls and personally I just play Tiger Woods GOLF boring I know but it relaxers me. My girls like driving games so its just so we can spend some time together.

Don't underestimate the Marketplace man. There is a really great variety of games there, at very reasonable prices. Lots of classics from the Sega/Nintendo era and lots of family games. The most expensive Arcade games will set you back around R120, but most of them are about R80 and below.

game piracy = fail
having an xbox without live is like having a computer without the internet... sure you could get by without it but you are missing out....

I've been gaming for a very long time and have experienced Online play on the 360 at my couz's, however I prefer gaming by myself or with friends/family visiting me and not across an internet connection. I have, and probably will never game online on my PS3 or Xbox.

To each their own I guess.

Nigga :p PLEASE. I have over 1.5TB of movies all pirated :D. As for having a xbox without LIVE or a computer without internet? Please internet has only reached a small sector of the South African households yet 5 times more people have Computers. So it seems thousands of people have computers and not internet and are still have a good time hahahhaha

Okay maybe I must clarify this. I never went out to swap / buy a Xbox that has been flashed, it just came my way. I just want a game console that can play TIGER WOODS :D

My xbox is flashed, and has been for the better part of 3 years now. With regard to your decision to swap you handset for the xbox, no comment as I am not aware of the value of the handset. Will I flash my next xbox, yes.

I think all u need to look out for is how long the games take to load and what type of discs are being used. Where I get my games, I order specifically Verbatims as the Ridata discs I found to be crappy. If the game takes long to load it could be the Disc Drive on it's way out.

To all others, please tell me you don't have copied music, movies etc. to backup your "piracy is bad" comments
