Xbox One Controller not working on Windows 7 Ultimate.

This is what I have tried to fix the problem

1) downloaded the official drivers
2) installed all possible W7 updates (yuck!)
3) installed the updates directly required to run it from Msoft's website itself.

At the end of my rope here.

I get the Driver 37 error.

Whereas plugging it into my Windows 8 laptop it works immediately.

Do I format and install Win8.1?

Windows 10 will have the xbox one controller drivers, free upgrade release is 29 july. Buying window 8.1 to make controller work is a waste.

Try it on a friends Windows 7 machine first.
I have one that works on my 8.1 though but the thing that annoys me the most is that there is no wireless receiver for the control yet.

Install VS Distributable 2012. Something along those lines fixed it for me.
