Anyone got this setup?
How do you control?

It seems there is an IR out on the Xbox One - but I think that uses the Xbox One to control other devices and not the other way around?

I'm getting it made and asking them to leave of the back entire back (1.8m).

But this controlling thing sounds like another flaw of this console

The Xbox uses RF though ; need line of sight :(

Thinking of a way around that

To play games or what??
Have it in a cupboard and can play so no LOS needed but using the official remote might be a different beast entirely.

Only if you're using the remote. If you're just using the controller, it's not a problem.

Edit: see you answered that already. Also it's IR not RF, RF doesn't require line of sight.

OOC: how you liking yours?

I have no idea why Microsoft didn't do an RF media remote ; or why they didn't provide an IR in so the Xbox can be controlled.

My understanding - and I could be wrong - is the the IR out on the back of the unit is to control other units behind a cupboard

Make a waveguide with mirrors on the ends to reflect & propagate the signal. Mirrors alone could work if the back is open.

That's going in the cupboard as well ;) I prefer the Xbox for media though and run Kodi through it.

In fact, never played a game

Hi,

I only have the Xbox in the cupboard - so I guess don't need that whole thing?

Just a remote blaster?

A little messier than I wanted to go though. I hear even with the Kinect it can't do it!

Yes, the IR Repeater kit is best suited for those that want to hide all their devices in a media cupboard. What might be better is a USB IR Kit, which allows one device to be hidden out of view. The receiver sits outside the cupboard and sends IR to the device inside. We don't stock them, but will bring some in with our next order
