Xbox One or PS4? Suggestions please.

My kids will be doing most of the gaming. 3year and 6 year olds. The console will have to last for a good 5 years minimum. I will more than likely use it for movies/Kodi.

Which console do I go for and why? Pro's and Cons of both please.

Neither, go tell them to play outside... or invest the money in some Lego.
 
The PS4 has superior graphics as it plays most games in 1080p and 60FPS. The Xbox one plays most games in 720p 60fps but will have backwards compatibility for alot of Xbox 360 games soon.

I prefer the PS4 because of certain exclusives like Street Fighter V. The Xbox one will also have some really cool exclusives but I just prefer the PS4.
 
i was going to say go with PS4 due to better graphics, but i have the xb1 and it's a far superior media center than the PS4. only thing is that you can't use Kodi for XB1 or PS4 so you may want to look at a droid TV or something simliar.

They already have a huge Lego collection. :o
Now they want to play Lego console games. Grrrr. I blame that darned Danish company for my financial woes! :)

I suppose it was bound to happen :)

I own Xbox360, PS3 and PS4. Out of those the PS3 and PS4 (so far) have never given hassles. I feel PS4 is a better option if you want the best gaming console.
 
If it's mainly for the kids then XB1. The Kinect is superior to the PS Camera...

Thanks so much for your valuable input... :confused: Kids nowadays also have cellular phones - suppose they need to be taken to some technology-less school to be rehabilitated. Technology is the devil, you know?

Anyhoo - @ OP. I posed the same question to the guy under the console section and I went and got the Xbone. I also have a PS3, and I know you can't compare the two because it is a generation apart, but I simply LOVE the XBone. Streaming is a breeze and there is a LOT of content exclusive to the console.
 
Decisions decisions...

I wonder if I should buy now with the anticipation that due to the weak rand the prices will increase. Or do you think that prices will actually come down towards the Christmas season? Apparently the Xbox had a recent price cut. The PS4 to follow eventually?

Steaming and other features - XBOne
Exclusives - PS4
Price of games - XBOne

You mention kids so I immediately think XBOne...
The kinect is always a winner for them and there are so many little games on the XBLive store that they would enjoy.
 
Sanity prevailed and I picked up an Xbox 360 this morning on the Takealot daily deal.
This will entertain the kids (and me? :) ) for the next year or so while we wait for the PS4 and XB1 prices to drop a little more.

Now. Xbox360 4GB. I know nothing about it. How large are the game installations? Surely the 4GB will run out quickly?

Yeah, 4GB is pretty much useless. As far as I know though, you can slap a usb external drive on there now, so that'll help.
