Xbox One S or Series S

Hi all. I am having a tough time deciding between these 2 consoles.
I dont have any console at the moment, last I had was a 360 many years ago.

My usage will be very light, ie some late night gaming when the family is asleep. No online multiplayer gaming etc.

I am sure this would be a simple decision for most, but for my sort of usage I am actually leaning toward getting a One S. Simply because it has a rom and I would be able to get games cheaper and they wouldnt depend on an internet connection. The price on the Series S is grabbing me though, at only R1500 more. Problem is Im not so sure about digital gaming...

Can someone please clarify the following?

1 - How large are these files roughly?

2 - Are the downloaded games playable offline?

3 - Once your game pass expires, are you no longer able to play the downloaded games?

I would feel better purchasing the newer console as it would remain relevant for a few years longer, but wouldnt want something that isnt useable at times.

And no I cannot afford to buy a series x

1. The games differ but you are looking at about 40 to 50 GB per AAA game.

2. Yes.

3. You can't play the games once Game Pass expires.

Just get the Series S, it will change your gaming life. Everything is just better.

I have been fully digital since the Xbox One and have zero regrets.

And Game Pass is the best deal ever.

You can buy three years' Gold and then convert that to three years Ultimate Game Pass for R15 once off.

Thanks for clarifying! I guess the Series S is the way to go then. Had the games not been available offline it would probably have been the One S.

Before answering your questions I'll 1st say I would not pick a One S/X even if you pay me. Cause you will be left behind on new games even if its something that comes out next year or the year after that everyone play's you gonna regret it.

You can install Original/360/One games on a USB drive and play them off the drive. Only time you will touch the internal 360 gig space on a Series S is on Next gen games and they seem to be smaller than One games. I have a 2 TB USB HD on my series S and happily installed over 40 games on it Quick resume and all that jaz still works on it.

Personally I hate disks cause I have to get up off the couch and swap even when 50% of the games are installed on the drive you still need the disk.

Now to the questions:
1) Depends on type of game but varies from 5 gig to 100 gig. Dedicated Series games seem to be smaller and clock max 20-40 gig range.
2) Yes if your system is set as "Home" you can play for extended periods without internet (Depends on games as well. Some games like Warhammer Chaosbane refuse to start without internet regardless of PC/Console even if you wanna play solo only.
3) GamePass games do expire when your sub ends but if you don't connect to the internet you can extend that. (again experience may vary depend on game)
