Ok so today my Xbox did the die on me thing.
So I went to swop it out only to find that that store doesn’t sell Xboxes anymore. I read somewhere you can swop your Xbox at any retail store that sells them, this is not true.
The only store that was willing doesn’t have any left(Top CD). Ok so I went back to the store that I bought it from and he gave me the reps no. phoned him and he said he will phone me tomorrow and sort me out.

Oh and he also told me there are problems with the mainboard of the Xboxes and a new one will be released the end of this month and he confirmed you can’t swop your box at any retail store just the one you bought it from.

Well this sucks big time. Bough myself Dirt today and now I can’t even play it. Hopefully it will be sorted tomorrow.

Update:

I got my new Xbox from MI Digital, they arranged and swopped it with no hassles at all.
Thanks Katie for your excellent “customer support”.

The console was originally bought from PC Game World in Menlyn.
They don’t sell them anymore, but they did offer to get me a new one but it would have taken weeks.

The sad thing is if the shop you bought it from decides to stop selling them you will have to goto MI digital for a swop.

Don't let that shop deflect the issues onto the suppliers!!

YOU BOUGHT IT THERE, SO THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WARRANTY.

(Don't give up your consumer rights by accepting any unfavourable options)

I can get a new one from them but it will take 2 weeks. i actually spoke to the owner of this chain store and he was very nice and helpful, he said if I don’t come right tomorrow I must phone him and we can make another plan.

What happens to your hard drive after the swop out?

What happens to all your Xbox Arcade downloads?

Must you pay for everything again to download all you games and music videos?

MI Digital only swops the Console you keep all your old wiring, controller and hard drive. So you still have all the downloads, patches and arcade games.

Interesting question, once you've paid for something. Surely you should be able to re-download it for free? Anyone tested this?

Generally you keep your harddrive which means you don't lose anything... You can get M$ to reimburse you the points paid for arcade games and the you download them again though if you lost your hDD...

They don't like doing it though so it's quite a mission
