Howzit guys,

I'm looking at buying a VGA cable so that I can connect my 19" LCD to my Xbox, but I came across this today:
PROBLEMS:
There are 2 problems with the cable:
1) MAJOR: Interframe update tearing results in a line across the screen showing half-previous and half-current frames creating an annoying feature I thought was long gone since the days of PC graphics cards in the 90's.
2) MINOR: PAL-50 old XBOX games cannot be played using this cable. As most XBOX games were made for PAL-50 (instead of PAL-60) you will NOT be able to play those games using this cable. You'll need to switch back to the component cables instead.
Have these problems been fixed or are they still an issue

Thanks

I've never heard of anyone having the second issue. the first pop up once or twice in the first year of the 360, but I think it was addressed in an update eons ago.

LOL. Old news.

The new update will probably sort out all of the lingering issues as well.

Does anyone know of a shop that carries the VGA cable?

Tried usual suspects - Musica - Look and Listen - CNA - Computer Mania - IT.COM - Makro - BT Gaming

Please - need one by weekend

If you don't mind a generic one, I can sell you a sealed one. Send me a PM so that I can send it off later today.

I know they're online, but try kalahari and Take2. They're both in Cape town and if you order today you could be able to collect from them by tomorrow.

A related question - I just bought a 42" full HD telly, and my xbox can't seem to output at 1080p using the VGA cable (actually the console setting when using the VGA cable is 1920x1080). Does the VGA cable support 1080p? I can get 1080p using the component cable, but now I can't use DVD upscaling and DVDs look terrible on the big screen.

update your console...

AFAIK, the console is up-to-date. Will double check this evening.

VGA does 720p no problem. I'm not sure about 1080p!

Check it with the component cable as well (set it to 1080p in the dashboard). If it does, then it's your VGA cable mate.

I can do 1080p on component, but not VGA. But component does not upscale DVDs. :(
