Can I install Kodi 18 leia on XBOX X and can I install No Limits Build on it?

Thinking of buying to stream 4K content on it instead of Nvidea Shield. My current setup is struggling with buffering 1080p content at times if file is large.

cant stream kodi on a xbox since kodi was called XBMC as far as i know, that was about 15 years ago

Kodi works fine on the xbox.

However, myself and many other people are incredibly disappointed with the 4k playback performance on the One X.
My Tv does a much better job

Thats nice to hear about working fine.

Is the playback bad on Kodi or any content streamed via XBOX ONE X ? With all those specs I would have thought it should be great? I just dont want to buy Android Box only for streaming movies, console can double up.

Which Build are you running ?

It's not the Xbox One X, it's that Kodi doesn't use hardcore decoding on the platform (yet).

So it's all software based which is why it struggles.

Plex does a solid job, but suspect it won't cater for the other needs in OP's question.

Kodi, playback from USB drive and streaming Plex from my media PC all works much better on my TV than on the One X.

I can only comment on Plex and the experience is pretty much identical between Xbox One X and LG WebOS for me.

Kodi, as I explained, is a **** up on the Xbox One X.

What TV have you got that supports Kodi?

USB is too ancient a technology for me to make use of. :)

Kodi playback from USB drive ?

Maybe will try install on PC and see how it works. I am interested in streaming 4K content, as mentioned my current media box struggles with buffering even though my line speed is 10MB

Erm...that's not enough for 4K streaming mate.

Likely the box isn't the problem.

I thought so too!

I store most of my 4k movies on a 7200rpm USB 3.0 external.
If I plug the drive into my TV, everything plays perfectly.

On the One X, I've tried the native media player, VLC and Kodi, and some files don't play at all.
Others buffer.

Streaming from my media PC via Plex is also much better on my TV (Connected via 2.4ghz Wifi) than the One X (connected via Gb network cable)

I'm not alone...

Sorry, Kodi is the only one with the app not directly on my TV and I no longer use it.
Only Plex and directly from USB.

2018 Samsung N7100 and Plex works beautifully on there no matter what format.

Yeah in the case of Plex all the work is done on the PC side so if it works on one thing it really should work on another.

Just made sure to set it to "Original Quality" for resolution so that it doesn't try to transcode.

More often than not there's a configuration variance.
