Hi friends! :D

My xbox scratched up my Forza 2 disc, badly, to a point that I cannot really
continue playing. :(

These scratches are most definitely the work of the drive, as they are perfect circular scratches and nice and wide :( That and I take great care not to **** up a R550 disc...

I cannot see that it has really scratched my other discs, but then, Forza was by far my most played game.

Anyways, the first time, I was playing and suddenly the drive made strange noises, I immediately took out the disc and didn't notice anything weird except a small mark, nothing major, thought it may have come from normal use.

Then, came the second time it made that noise, I took out the disc as soon as I heard that creepy noise. Shock and horror, my beloved Forza disc was scratched, badly....

However, I tested it again, all was al right on the first track I played, but then to my dismay, little other than that track worked.

Of course, I did not move my xbox while I was playing, lies horizontally, and the table it is on is quite stable and heavy.

Now, according to this here page : http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/gameplay/discreplacement-games.htm

Forza is not covered under that plan.

Will I in any way be able to swap out the game? Because I did nothing wrong, this is in no way my fault. :(

Also, should I ask for a replacement xbox? Seeing as how this may happen again. I paid for a fully functioning product without defects and believe as I held my end of the bargain (paying) MS/MI Digital or whoever
should do the same. It is after all only reasonable.

Please advise guys, I seriously need my Forza fix. :D

Thanks in advance. :)

[EDIT] I think I have the BenQ drive. There are no holes in the tray like a samsung drive.

Yes definitely - swap the box.

And also don't stress about the disc, that list was published before Forza 2 was release, it's an MS published game so it is covered.

I bumped my console while I was playing once and it made an gut wrenching ghwahahaha sound and scratched my first and only game, GOW. Needles to say I was devestaded, I had the XBOX less than a day and I managed to destroy my only game, or so I thought. I took the game to a videoshop where they had a polisher machine and whallah + R40 later my disc was good as new.

So don't worry too much about the disc, bad as the scratch may look chances are that it's superficial and can be polished out by a machine.

PS NEVER EVER tilt/bump the console while it's on. I learned this lesson the hard way

@ Toko, that goes without saying. :) But the Xbox 360 does have known issues that are now sorted out by Microsoft. They have to or they will lose the console wars. :D

As a side note, if you want another copy of the game, I got one with with my console bundle and played it once. I'm selling it in the classifieds for R250...

Sorry to hear about the xbox though.... I have an older version and don't wish the scratching issue on anyone...

Sjoe, thanks a lot for the replies guys. I was a little busy the last few days, but I should get around to doing it tomorrow.

@Doobi, awesome, I was really worried about my beloved Forza disc.

I bought it at Incredible Corruption, so, as they are a big group, do you guys think it will be possible to just take it to the nearest branch or should I take it to the branch I purchased it at? Dunno if somebody may have a similar experience.

@Bcm, that is quite tempting, I have been looking at getting crackdown when the classic version comes out. And a copy of Forza for safety would be cool... Or I could give it to a friend as b'day present...

mmm, how much do you think the shipping to Pretoria would be?

Got it sorted out guys. They replaced it without hassle. The people at IC are not totally clued up, but the service was ok-ish.

I love forza :D :D :D

I wonder if any of you can help me, I am playing call of duty 3 , and the game gets stuck on the loading screen, i can hear the sounds, but it just shows that little 3 in the bottom right.. Anyone know what i can do?

Yip, mine scratched my doa4, applied some toothpaste to the disk, polished it some bit with a lint free cloth, and bam, working again like a charm

What a rip off.
Cant believe MS would sell a console that ****s up discs.
If Sony had to do **** like that i would sue them

Yeeees, Micro$haft, those evil world dominating 'tards intentionally introduced drives that scratch games, just so that they could bring in a new policy to replace all discs for free regardless of cause or extent of damage at their own expense because . . ?!??

They've got too much money and don't know what to do with it? They wanted the free publicity?

hmm let me ponder about that for more than a half microsecond . . .

Yay there is hope for console gaming... nice to know that i can get my damaged games replaced...
