XCOM: Enemy Unknown on Steam on MAC for free when buying PC DVD?

If I buy the XCOM: Enemy Unknown PC DVD edition, will I automatically get the MAC version for free on steam? Currently the DVD PC version is $20 compared to $40 for the Digital Steam version.

So basically can I use the XCOM: Enemy Unknown PC DVD activation code in steam to "Activate a Product" and then download the mac version?
 
Probably not. You get normal PC-DVD keys and then you get Steam keys.

Should work. Don't think Steam cares how you buy it. It's linked to your steam account after all.

From what I've seen XCOM Enemy Unknown requires steam to activate and play the game so in this case it is the same key. I also note a "Steam Play" logo on the game page that allows you to purchase your games once and play anywhere. platform_steamplay.png

"The game supports Steam Play, so buyers of the PC version also have a copy of the Mac port and vice versa."
