Anyone played this recently..? Looking to get me a copy, almost done with Enemy Unknown and loved it!

Yeah, sure. Not all that much of an upgrade. Try get it on special sometime. Gives you reason to play through one more time. But not much more. Maybe try Xenonaughts instead?

I would recommend it... there is also a mod for both Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within called "Long War".
Makes a hellova change to the game! Enjoying that at the mo.

I am interesting in buying the game, but I do not own Enemy Unknown (EU). When it comes to Windows is Enemy Within (EW) a standalone addition or expansion pack, and what is the difference?

I purchased Xenonauts, excellent and high on nostalgia, have to get back to work next week

You need EU to be able to play EW.

There are a lot of differences (check e.g. http://xcom.wikia.com/wiki/XCOM:_Enemy_Within), but some key things:

- Exalt missions: Basically a human faction fighting against you, you have to send agents on infiltration missions against them. They fight with the same types of weapons/classes you have
- Mec/Gene units: You can upgrade your soldiers into new types, e.g. mecs don't use cover but are very strong. Gene units have special abilities like regen/jump/invis etc
- New enemies/maps/mission types
- Defending your base vs invasions etc

Overall I enjoyed EW a lot more than EU, although it did feel a bit easier due to having Mec/Gene soldiers.
Adding the Long War mod negates all of that though haha. It makes the game extremely hard, turning it into sort of a puzzle save/load affair.

Kinguin was recently selling an international pack for EU+EW for about $15 or so.

Enemy Within does add alot to the Xcom game, I enjoyed it alot, also +1 on the Long Wat mod, would def recommend getting that once you have done a playthrough.

Xenonauts is on my list of what to get next, it looks bloody nice.
