Hi

Just wanted to ask if anybody is using XDSL as an isp, we looking to get them to supply a mix of fibre and adsl lines and accounts for one of our clients. The client is based in the greater Durban area and have a branch down as far as Port Shepstone and a branch in Richards Bay, they have +_ 15 stores. What are they like as an ISP, what is the service and support like, data speeds ect. Please if anybody has anything good or bad to say please let me know. I know they won some sort of award from My broadband for fibre provider etc., but real world is always better.

Thanks

We use XDSL at work (Fibre) and some of us, including me, use XDSL at home (ADSL in my case).

I am not sure of the in and outs of the fibre side, but every now and then we fail over to ADSL as a backup until whatever is fixed.

As for the ADSL side, it's great to download. But streaming and online gaming can sometimes be a bit of a pain. For months now, there have been terrible ping spikes. I regularly switch over to my Afrihost account as they are pretty stable. In the few months I have been using XDSL at home, there have only been two occasions when my router couldn't connect to them at all (hope that makes sense).

Hi mr_norris

Thanks for the reply, it is always difficult to judge what isp to use. When you fail over to the adsl, how long is the down time till you back on the fibre?
