XFX 7950GT AGP problem

Ok I got my bro this card for Xmas, it blew up his psu which I replaced as well.

Then the fan broke so I modded it with two more fans which made it even cooler than before...BUT

When I install the latest drivers, it seems relatively fast but it has texture corruption, like missing textures and or they're dragged out halfway across the scren (forceware 178.24 and forceware 180.84)

Anyways so I researched a bit and decided to downgrade it to FW 169.04 beta which solved the problem...except now it has this stutter every now and then and the performance decreased like 60% in everything.

So I formatted his pc with his objection of course :D

And its still the same...

Any suggestion to which forceware I should used? Been downloading so many of them and they're not small. And its bloody slow on Iburst here at my parents.

I've got the same card and I'm using forceware version 175.16 and not having any problems *touches wood*
 
Shot, will give that forceware a try.

Funny thing is, I tested on my pc and all the forcewares works...just the 17x.xx+ have stutter problems, but the benchmarks still see it as 40fps or something.

But thanks for the input, will give that forceware a try
 
Lol no prob, let me know if there is a stutter problem....maybe I've been playing games without noticing it :P

Thanks dude! This version worked! U're my bro's saviour haha

Think the stutter problem is the rest of his components, but its at speed and no missing textures or random stuff. :D
 
Cool man :) Glad to hear its working. Just out of interest, what are the rest of his specs?
 
Actually it didnt work...in the end it was the Omega drivers that worked.

The 175.16 gave him a fuzzy screen.

Its:
P4 prescott [email protected]
2x 512mb [email protected]
XFX 7950GT 550M AGP + 2 modded 60cm fans
2x 40Gig IDE drive
Gigabyte something motherboard
5 system fans (ripped it out of old psu's :p)
A torn up(from modding) generic case with a Superchannel 500w PSU (31amps on 12V+)

His 3dmark 05 score was 6550 only, after I oc'ed the card to 650/750(1500)
And Aquamark at 58k

Dunno what the hecs wrong with it, with 169.04 its like half of that
And 170x.xx its higher but artifacts everywhere
 
Hey bro, thank again for the cables :D

Yeah I actually made it to 3.6 and it was really unstable

At 3.5 its slightly unstable, only crashed while trying to get through the beginning of FarCry 2.

So gonna put it down to 3.43ghz later today.

I read somewhere some German team OCed a prescott to 8ghz on nitro...cant seem to find that article now :p
 
LoL. That should have been one hell of a task to do. :D

Is that not maybe the reason for all your problems?
