I have the following card: XFX ATI Radeon 4870 - 512MB
Have it now for a few years. It played everything, even Skyrim and The Witcher 2 at full.

Now I'm having a problem getting Rage to work. I downloaded the AMD Rage Performance drivers, created a rageconfig.cfg file, etc. Nothing worked.

So now I'm convinced that I need a new card.

What Card will you suggest to me, with a budget of R2500.

I would love to stay with AMD, been with them for years, but some people is saying that the Nvidia cards is beter now-a-days for games.

Also, I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. Will the 64bit version be beter for games.

I'd say rather go for the Gigabyte HD6870 and just overclock it to the speeds of the Sapphire HD6870 if you really need more juice.
The Gigabyte card comes with a 3 year warranty and it is slightly cheaper.

Could you perhaps tell us what the rest of your specs are:
1) CPU
2) RAM
3) PSU

Windows 7 32-bit is just limited to like 3.25GB of RAM, where as with Windows 7 x64 you can at least get access to 8GB of RAM if you have the Windows 7 Home Basic x64.

Rage will work with that card .... i ran rage on a 4870 1GB .... also had a problem in the beginning with 'stuttering' graphics.

The trick is to set the card to max detail ... "Mipmap = Highest Quality" ; "Wait for vertical refresh = ALWAYS ON" ; etc

Got a lot for friends/clients on ATI cards going with these settings & said game. ;)

Thanks, I got it working. ATI released 11.12 drivers in the last few days. Installed that and KUDOS, its working as I thought it should. Smooth sailing. Funny, I downloaded 11.11 just before that, but nothing.
So, thanks to all for suggestions on a new card, but I think I'll hang on just a little longer.

Yeah. I'm still running my old 4850 (and it really sucks in some games) but I'm waiting for the mid range 7 series cards to come out from AMD. The high end range should arrive early jan, with the other cards following shortly after (I hope).
