Xiaomi Mi Box / Mi Box S [Android TV OS]

I can confirm this worked in my case - Keeping in mind I did not have any WIFI issues so speeds just got faster. Netflix speeds increased more than 3x. So good became better.

Hi Phly
What's the step by step procedure on changing channels?.

What is the difference/advantage of VPN vs DNS blocker, for Netflix and Amazon Prime TV?

The DNS is way cheaper and, unlike a VPN, you won't get a knock on your broadband speed. DNS will be the go to for streaming, whilst a VPN is more ideal for protection over a public network. A VPN is a costly panacea for unblocking geo restricted streaming service like Prime Video, Hulu and Netflix.

It's as easy as going into settings and choosing the 5ghz network as opposed to the 2.4Ghz network. However you need to have enabled the 5Ghz option from your ruter if its supported. So I would suggest checking your router on changing to a 5Ghz network and then choosing that one from the settings on the mi box. If you can post your router make and model then we may be able to help you further.

Hi Phly.
I'm using a Huawei B315. Will sincerely appreciate the guidelines.

Here is a clip that shows it much better.

Go to your browser
Log in to your router with the username and password. Unless changed, it will be the default ones
Navigate to WLAN Tab and go into WLAN Basic settings.
In there you can enable the 5ghz module,
Meaning press Edit on 5ghz network band switch it on
You may need to give the 5ghz network a different name and password.
Save, Exit and thats done. now you just need to connect to that 5ghz wifi network on the mi box

Perfect Phly. Tonnes of thanks for this. Kindly advise if the connection for other devices will still be on the normal wifi network (i.e no adjustments will be necessary to link other devices on wifi after these changes) and the 5GHz wifi network will only be picked up by the Mi Box.

So this might probably be mentioned in the thread, and on mobile so searching is a pain.
Can you have multiple users on the Mi Box? Especially for twitch and youtube. Everyone's subs differ, so it would be useful to have different users.

Yea if you leave the prior 2ghz wlan module on then all other devices that were connecting to it before will continue to do so since the password to that has not changed and even if they pick up the new one they cannot connect to it without knowing the new password.

I don't think you can, the workaround is to cast from your phone.

Only one that I have seen that kinda connects well for multiple users is spotify as you start playing on mobile and choose the device to "connect" to. Every other one to my knowledge will need a login and logout process for another user to use it. Oh Netflix also lets you choose profiles so multiple users can use that as well - they just choose their profile and start watching

Geewiz priced at R1244 inclusive of courier. (Oh, and there delivery is very fast.)

Has anyone encountered the audio out of sync issue when streaming? It's really annoying, I have to reset my box at least twice a day to get it to work properly...

I'm still on MM 6.0. I got an optical cable over the weekend, but I only seem to get stereo on my home theater amp. Anyone got surround sound via SPDIF on Andorid 6.0 working?

Edit: I have set the Audio - Digital Sounds setting to Auto and to SPDIF. It says pass-through, but I only get stereo.

Edit 2: Managed to get SPDIF pass-through working, but I have to select the HW decoder in MX player. HW+ doesn't work, which I need for H265. So H265 with surround doesn't work, only H264.

Ah this is what the lit should have been.
Nice.

I note the youtube app is also unhappy on here though

My remotes keep becoming unresponsive even when on the Chromecast screen (on two different miboxes).

Batteries are new, pressing / mashing buttons does nothing, and neither does holding back and home.

Have to turn off and on at the wall plug, and then reconnect remote with back and home.

What is everyone using to stream

Need something with trackt capability if possible

Currently using showbox

Like the idea of being able to download as well
