Good evening.

I’ve got a dilemma that I’m hoping to get help on.
I have a Xiaomi Mibox TVbox and a Ruijie/Reyee router powered by Afrihost.

As it stands the Tv box can connect to the Wi-Fi but it keeps on having interruptions with a message “ Wi-Fi disconnected” . It can however be hotspotted on cellphone internet without any problems. Factory reset of the TV box doesn’t help

Other devices in the house can use the Wi-Fi without any problems. As it stands I can’t even tell whether the problem is the TVbox or the Wi-Fi .
Any suggestions?

If its a new device , send it back or for warranty. Maybe test it with your phone by making your phone a hot-spot and see if it connects without issues. Maybe try resetting it.

Change the Wi-Fi channel on the router/AP and check the security standard being used, b/g/n.

Perhaps the distance from the cellphone to the TV Box is shorter than the distance to the router?
It’s not a long distance. Other devices can connect from longer distance. And it’s not that it doesn’t connect. It does connect but disconnects every 2 min or so . This was not a problem for the past 12 months until recently

It's difficult to say, possibly wrong settings on the wifi router itself, we use them for our customers but sometimes it's just a setting or even a wifi channel that could this. I have a mixbox and a EW3200GX router.

Perhaps a component of the TV Box got damaged during the recent electricity load reduction by City Power / Eskom.

Try to connect an Ethernet cable between the devices and see what happens.

Otherwise replace the TV Box with a modern one?

Try changing the MiBox to connect to the routers 5Ghz Wi-Fi network. That helped for me when I had some issues with connectivity and bad buffering.

I use a Huawei Mesh system.

Also, try a different router. As your current router can not be configured, connect another router via LAN from the current one to WAN on the new one and test that way

Change wifi channel, use 5ghz.

I lose total 2.4ghz functionality in my house when the microwave is on. Turns out I had a leaky magnetron. This I figured out much much later. So now if something can be on 5ghz, I use that.

Media devices and PCs are all wired, so basically just cellphones. Sonoff devices and visitors are on 2.4

WiFi was slow on my stick as well. Had to force it to 5g 40ghz. They use crappy WiFi chips.

the Mi Box Gen 2 was my best working wi-fi device BUT i still got myself a 4 port USB hub and a USB to ethernet convertor - now i can connect a hard drive plus a flash drive to extend internal storage plus a keyboard and mouse as well as the aforementioned USB to ethernet and connect wired

i still cant connect two hard drives to the USB hub because the second one doesn't work since the hub cant supply enough power but im curious as to whether an 8 port powered USB hub might work three to four hard drives plus the flash drive and the keyboard and mouse as well as the USB to ethernet
