Thinking about getting the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro as an upgrade. It seems like a decent phone with a great camera for the budget. Anything I should beware of or any other phones with great cameras in that same budget?
(about R5,500 on bidorbuy, seems like)

Mainly looking for a good camera (mostly food and pets) and a good battery. I mostly use the phone for reading e-novels and taking photos. Playing games/watching movies isn't that important, and I don't make a lot of calls.

Relying to you from one. It's a great phone on the whole .

I will only discuss what I don't like .

- the fingerprint touch sensor is too finicky. Never captures a fingerprint properly ,so multiple attempts required. A back mounted fingerprint reader would be better. I think the primary reason is that that the sensor is too thin . I have multiple fingers enrolled and each time it feels like a lottery if it's going to be accepted

- their version of faceid, is utterly stupid. Don't bother with it

- doesn't seem to get updated often. It's August and the phone still only has the June update. Samsung's already on August update

- all the Xiaomi bloatware apps that you can't properly delete. An example: I don't care for their pictures/gallery app but it controls all photos taken with phone. So if I then want to delete something via gPhoto , I always need to grant gPhoto permission to delete photos. #Stupid

- 108mp camera but pictures when zoomed it , don't look great. Front facing camera does the same

I don't take many pics or selfies so doesn't bother me too much.

I came from a Nokia Android One Phone, so miss the clean OS and regular updates. Really hoping Nokia come out with a phone with these type of specs this, in the same price range , but with Android One.

Finger print sensor works fine with me, most of the time first attempt and unlocked. Received the 12.5.6 update with July security update 2 days ago. Did not even look for it just automatically happened, maybe go check manually?

I have no fingerprints, will that be a problem ?
Does it take Call Recorder Pro which I need for business?

Good question, I thought with new android call recording was a no-no on any phone.

Nokia lost my vote after how they treated the 8, also no updates on it since Oct 2020.
Also not all OEMs update their phones regularly especially those that have custom skins.

I have had mine for about a month now.

Nothing bad to say about it really, because of the huge battery/screen, it does feel a bit bulky with the gel cover. - Coming from the Mi8
Fingerprint sensor is sensitive, always catches my finger or a part of it on the first try. But hate having it mounted on the side, though.

Call quality is decent.
Stereo speakers - I like this as I play music a lot through the loudspeaker.
Mobile gaming - 120hz screen + gaming = WIN!

I don't care much about the camera/updates, as I had other must-haves in my next phone.

You can record calls with the phone app. Well it does on my phone. This is via the Google phone app

My Nokia 7 plus was amazing . Interesting fact, after getting the Xiaomi, I wiped the Nokia to use for my kids, all my previous performance issues disappeared and with phone not being used, lasts a week on a single charge.

Love Android One , but on this pro10, the screen and stereo speakers are what make me smile daily.

Screenshot on my phone. To be frank that record function appeared on my nokia a few months ago and it seems to have pulled through to this phone. It does play a message, 'this call is being recorded'. Screenshot_2021-08-15-06-59-07-888_com.google.android.dialer.jpg

My S7 records automatically. No message which would defeat the object of recording.
No other phone I have tried allows calls to be emailed like mine.

Legality of those recordings without other party knowing can be challenged if used in legal cases afaik. In any case , your choice. I have it, but don't haven't seen the need to use it

Hi Ted ive just purchased mine through vodacom,How is your battery life im getting on average 4-5 hours on screen battery life which i was hoping was going to be more and this is on half the brightness no games, mainly scrolling through instagram to kill time during work, reported the issue to vodacom was told that i must wait a few days so the phone can get used to my activates etc....Now they want to send the phone to be checked instead of a refund, just want to know if the 4-5hrs is normal cause ive seen a lot of youtube videos where theses phones are getting 9 to 10 hours of screen time with heavy usage.
