XP boot progress bar never stops

Hi ive got a really annoying prob with xp...

sometimes when i boot the pc the xp progress bar just keeps on going and going, and xp doesnt load. When this happens i have to select the "last known good configuration" option at startup, this works and xp loads.

It happens at random times, sometimes its boots perfectly, but once it fails to boot you have to choose last know good config to make it boot normally again.

Anyone have any ideas what the prob might be? I've tried formatting and reinstalling but the problem came back

- virus
- bad RAM
- failing HDD

Check your video card for new driver

try this.

startup in Safe Mode, once within windows run MSCONFIG from the START->RUN option and check if there are any unknown or weird SERVICES being loaded and what programs are listed in your STARTUP section.
