need a bit of 2cents here. - xp pro sp2.

have a pc here - when u start xp up - it shuts down (normal procedure) and you have to power on again..

when you try safe mode - you get exactly the same.

when you select last good known configuration - it boots in and gives you 5-10 seconds then just shuts down again....

its the normal shutdown procedure - not a bluescreen...

how can i stop this?

i managed to quickly run msconfig and disabled all startup items - it doesn't help a bit.

I had almost the same, but instead of shutting down, the user account just logged straight out again... Problem was also a virus... Some BlazeFind or some crappy virus...

I also had this problem with a virus. Can't remember the name, but it started all of a sudden (without me installing something new or using an infected USB). I figured it might be date triggerred, so I changed the date in the BIOS settings to a few weeks back and the computer didn't restart again, giving you all the time in the world to antivirus it!
