Good day guys. I need some help again please. Is there any way to password protect the taskbar in XP Pro? I want to restrict access to the taskbar to prevent certain users from closing apps that are running on the taskbar. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. :D

As far as I know that is not part of windows's design and is not possible. But it seems you are approaching this problem from the wrong direction. Any application that is running as the user, the user will have permission to close whether through the taskbar, taskmanger or other.

As an aside, you may have posted this in the wrong section? Unless it has something to do with a application you are developing? I believe this sub-section is pretty low traffic so you might not get as much help as you could have if it was posted one level down.

use powermenu, minimize the app to the tray, then set the icon to be hidden. Not secure, but may prevent an accidental 'blonde' click 'n' close .

Thank you everyone, I came right with a 3rd party app. Just some feedback to why I needed it. The scada application runs on a machine in the office, but I also have a second machine that “mimics” the first machine, the main screen is filled by the scada app, but some operators move the bloody screen and then access the taskbar on the “main” machine, they then close some apps that run minimized on the taskbar, don’t ask me way. Sorry if this was in the wrong section, I was posting from my phone and was in a hurry.

There are apps out there that lets you run something as a windows service. I suggest you try them instead.

Hey thats a good idea, the damn app does not have an option to install as a service, so I just scraped that idea, I'll google it. Thanks Rouxenator!:D
