XtraView - 2 HDTV's [2 HD PVR 2P's]

Hi Folks

I've currently got a 2P HD decoder (Lounge) + 1110 (Bedroom). I'd like to have both viewing environments connected with HD, which obviously means the 1110 has to go. Is it possible to get HD on both TV's? The website has this: HD PVR 2P + HD PVR 2P XtraView. Would this allow me to have 2 HD viewing environments and at least two simultaneous recordings?

Yes, I have for example an hd pvr the 4 tuner upstairs and a hd 2p pvr downstairs.

Obviously you will need to run an extra cable and possibly get a multi-switch

Yup, two HDPVR 2Ps will give you 2 viewing & 2 recording
You could also get a 1x2 HDMI splitter & watch HD in the 2nd room, but it will obviously be the same channel as in the lounge

Thanks D3x!

So if I go for two HD PVR 2P's i'd need a Quad LNB with two coaxial cables going to each decoder right (and the heartbeat between the decoders which is already there anyway)? What are your thoughts on using a satCR with one cable to the bedroom and two cables from the legacy ports to the lounge?

Is that even possible?

Just to clarify, I would be able to watch say Discovery HD in the bedroom and Supersport HD in the lounge all with one ExtraView subscription and HD?

Your subscription will be the same as what you are currently paying
And before wasting money on a new lnb, what do you have currently?
I'm guessing you have a dual lnb and a 2x4 multiswitch, this will be good enough for 2hd decoders with extraview

Your subscription will stay the same and you will have full access on both assuming you are on the hd premium subscription plus extra view.

Likely you currently have a dual lnb? If so then get a 2x4 multi switch , connect two cables from the dual lnb into the one side with two inputs. On the other side take two outputs to first pvr and the other two to the other. And then of course one cable between the two for heartbeat.

There's currently a quad LNB up there with two cables going to the lounge and one to the bedroom. Running a second cable to the bedroom (roughly 45m) would be cheaper I guess that changing the LNB? Also, the current 60cm dish is rusted pretty badly and looks like a dogs breakfast so I'm looking to give that a make over while i'm up on the roof. Does it make a massive difference if its rusted (i mean *seriously* rusted)? Should I be considering a 90cm dish to future proof or am I wasting rand?

Thanks for all the assistance guys :) Very much appreciated!

Yup. Running that second cable from the quad is the simplest solution. Invest in a good quality 75cm VisioSat, at least. If you have rust issues, you can also get it with stainless steel parts. This is the best dish available in SA. When they change to DVB-S2, you will need it.

Your diagram above is spot-on. However, get a 75cm alu-zinc or fibreglass dish, as you will get a better signal and less drop-outs when it rains. You need the "heartbeat" signal (RF) between the two receivers

IMO the brackets all look the same from what I have seen but QT knows his stuff so he can confirm
