Hi guys

We get an enormous amount of requests by DIY enthusiasts, requesting examples and drawings of xtraview installations to enable them to to it themselves.

Rather than sending them individually, we decided to put them on our website for everyone to see! Yes it's probably not what you'd expect from installers, but what the hell, if your mind is set on doing it yourself, you'll find a way even without my help... ;)

So here it is: Visit our site on www.dstv-installations.co.za and click the link on the left menu called "INSTALLATION EXAMPLES" which will take you to the page. Follow the instructions and we'll send you the link to the pages.

The only thing we ask is that you DO NOT post a direct link to the page on the forum. The moment someone does this, I'll simply delete the pages and that person will not be very popular....

If you need other examples, please request it via e-mail to [email protected].

Enjoy
H

Dont know about that?

Curious to know how one would get the 3rd example down to work? From my experience the SDPVR can only listen to the Xtraview heartbeat on RF OUT.

You are no longer limited to any specific port (RF IN or RF OUT) for any XtraView combination or Primary / Secondary. You connect RF OUT (Heartbeat) to activate and thereafter switch the cable to RF IN, if required.

Alternatively you can use a SLX active splitter to split the heartbeat and still use RF OUT for a TV Link.

Will that carry on working after a power cycle?

I have not (yet) had any problems with existing installations? Except where there is a problem with the SD PVR.

Valid point though, it is recommended to go the SLX route in light of potential future software upgrade problems. I'll upload the alternative shortly, happy?

Well, if as you say activation still needs to be done via RF OUT on the SDPVR, it could cause someone great frustration just looking at the picture without explanation.

Not really important to me as I dont use a TV Link, so I'm OK with the original setup of [SDPVR] RF-OUT -> RF-IN [HDPVR2] RF-OUT -> RF TVs (viewing SDPVR). But if one wants to use the SD PVR with TV Link it will simplify things if the SDPVR can listen to heartbeat on RF IN (as per your diagram).

ok connected my HD & SD pvr all up , how do i go about enabling xtra-view and HD.

Can it be done online? If so how?

If your SDPVR hasn't received a new smartcard then its best to take it in otherwise you risk losing your recordings, other then this there is no reason why it can't be done over the phone as long as they are connected correctly
