It used to have a sizable following before the days of Reddit and Quora but ended up being taken over by trolls so I think that's why they had to do this.

It was one of the first Question and Answer online platforms AFAIK.

Yes, in the mid 2000s, it was probably the best question and answer site.

I really feel for the people that put tremendous effort into spending time there. A few had more than a million points. AFAIK, you get two points for answering a question and 10 for a best answer so imagine the time it must have taken?
