Hey so wanted to install teamviewer on my Pi but obviously it's not supported. So I have been searching for a while for a service which allows you to connect to a device without requiring a dns service.

Yaler is a reverse http service similar to teamviewer.

Everything installed fine but having a problem connecting.

I have read through the troubleshooting but can't seem to get things to connect.

Has anyone else used this service before?

I use xrdp. Allows one to use microsoft remote desktop.

sudo apt-get install xrdp

Sent from my iPhone using MyBroadband Tapatalk mobile app

Just quickly skimming over it this still needs a dynamic dns service.

The developer has responded with a few suggestions Will give it a go.

Got a D-link router somewhere? They typically come with a free dyn dns service.

The issue was more on the lines that I get my internet through Amobia which don't provide public IP's. Did manage to get it working though.

I can ssh into the device from work and control everything.

Could you please explain what you mean by this, unless I am misunderstanding something? You cannot use the internet without a public IP address, even if it is temporary :). Do they not allow any incoming traffic through any ports whatsoever?

Why not use Hamachi?

It still exists, still has clients, and works well for remote access to something.
You'll still need something else running to connect to, but you should have SSH or similar running on the pi also.

They provide an IP address but that IP address is shared by many people on the network, as its supplied by their upstream provider.

So basically...if me and my neighbour connect to the same highsite well have the same outbound ip address for the internet. So I woukdnt be able to use a Dynamic DNS account.

That's pretty interesting. How do they do this? Some sort of fancy session based routing or something? I guess it's the same principle as NAT except to your router instead of your PC ?
