Hey guys

Im thinking in getting a R6 sometime in the future, just for playin around, and getting from point A to B faster because of traffic, and it will be cheaper coz of the fuel price just going up all the time.

do any of you guys have a R6, of maybe something similar like the Cbr600?

Also what are your views about this bike?

Never owned one nor driven one.. but I like the style.. :) I don't think you can go wrong with a Yamaha though.. good bikes.. ;)
CBR600 is also a nice looking bike, and Honda is as good as Yamaha IMHO.. :)

Although a superbike is not really ideal if you're looking for fuel economy... Of course if you drive "nicely" then it'll be much better than a car - but that almost defeats the purpose of owning a superbike in the first place.. :D

I hope this isn't your first motorcycle btw...

2007 CBR600RR owner right here ;-)

Absolutely agree on the "not good for a first bike" sentiment - both of those machines have MORE than enough power (braking and engine) to get you into PLENTY trouble if you don't have experience in control.

Your best option is to try out the different options to see what suits you. Do some reading on the handling characteristics and speak to as many owners as you can. Try bigger machines too. You might prefer the way they handle and feel.

Even when ridden at speeds that will annoy the local constabulary you'll still get good fuel consumption from these machines.

Ive got about 2 years bike experience on a 125cc. And I used to go bike riding every 2nd weekend with a pal. Mainly CR250 & Raptor quads.

Will that be ok to start off with? Im not looking to do 180km/h weelies, or anything like that. I will probaby start off driving like a granny.

Well, me I started on a Honda CG125 for two years, then I drove my 180cc vespa for another five years (well I still do occasionally) I had also ridden quite a bit (around 2 years) on a 100cc scrambler before the CG...

I then bought my current (second hand) Yamaha FZR 750 ... so essentially I moved from quite a small bike up.. but I should mention that my brother has gone through a stack of motorcycles, so my 750 wasn't my first ride on a large bike.. ;)

And of course there's the fact that my 750 is after all 1989 technology and obviously not up to the performance of modern superbikes... (nonetheless it still goes like heck :D )..

So yea for me the jump was not too large I think.. :)

Just don't get yourself next to some nut in his BMW who thinks he stands a chance against a bike before you're confident in handling the machine.. ;)
What I mean is don't let ego run ahead of common sense... :)

Maybe for commuting something like a ER6 would be a better buy?

The correct attitude.

Just drive slowly and carefully until you know the bike better.

I'm also looking for something between 250cc and 350cc at a later stage - fuel economy and quick pullaway being high on my list. Speed is last. :)

ABS would be VERY high on my list, that's why I'd get an ER6N. My g/f won't let me get a bike tho. T_T

I went from nothing to a FZR400 which I had for about a year and then sold that before stuff on it broke!
Been playing with my mates R1 at the track a few times and wow that thing has MAD power but it handles amazingly.
The R6 is plenty of fun too and will hang around with bigger bikes until you start getting into the 180+ speed ranges.
