Yard-Long Undersea Bug Terrorizes Robo-Sub, Internet

Great - more for the nightmares.

I had what I believe is one of these (a sunfish) swim under my surfski once - almost wet myself, at first I thought it was a shark, they come and bake in the sun on their sides at the surface:

If I came across one of those bugs I wouldn't wet myself. I would bekuk myself!!!

However, we hear isopod is something of a delicacy in Taiwan, where its white, lobster-like meat is boiled and enjoyed in seaside restaurants.

Now this just pisses me off. Those easterners are disgusting. They fukking feed on anything they lay their hands on. I'm sure they would feed on their own dead if it weren't internationally taboo. I'm willing to wager that if aliens land on earth their first thought would be, "mmmm, I wonder what those aliens would taste like".

Why does it piss you off so much? :wtf:

Because they keep on plundering the oceans. And as soon as the novelty of one species wears off they just move on to another species.

It just irritates me.

There's little sustainability in anything they do.

True enough. They are not the only culprits though.

i think the issue is more that "eastern cultures" have a history of unsustainable / outright destructive interaction with nature (whales / ivory / perlemoen etc)
and they have a history of plundering other nations (unable to protect their resources) once they have destroyed their own.
i don't have any issue with consumption of any natural wild resource, as long as that resource is managed sustainably and it is a good option as a food source.

killing animals exclusively for pelts, horns, teeth, glands etc is an unnecessary waste of life.
killing off a wild food resource and leaving its natural predators without food is irresponsible.
killing off a wild food resource when you have a better domestic source of protein is irresponsible.

it's not just the far east, they just seem to have the worst reputation for it.

One I'd like to add. Torturing animals for what some people consider a delicacy, like the force-feeding of geese so that their over-sized livers can be turned into foie gras.

dont point that ***ken tenticle at me you ***ken prawn

Yeah I'm a missed the part where the submarine was being dismantled and its contents liquified. Otherwise, awesome movie!
