Looking good, look like am going to be cruising. Its nice to be a developer

New Power Desktop Spec

8GM Ram PC3-10600
500GB HDD Sata II
DVD recordable
Nvidia 512MB Graphics (GMA4500 Graphics)
Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit

Will be configured with

No Blue-ray record-able? :p
But sounds good... but like anything epic, it needs a test flight. How will you do that?

Only reason behind this spec is the IBM software RAS/RAD for websphere which hogs the CPU .... Either than that, its just a coffee machine

Must have SSD!

yeah, when i upgrade my home PC, will add such luxury into it. I doubt they would consider such as cost is a driving factor also. The entire team is getting the upgrades (+-30 peeps)

Built in Coffee Machine would be quite a feature... how hard can it be to DIY?

Have you people heard of optimus?

nVidia GPU switches off when light work needs to be done and the Intel GFX card takes over.

I basically have the same PC at my office, except that I have a 30GB SSD for Ubuntu and my work related files + an HD 5670 for some light gaming ;)

They should've actually upgraded to the Core i7 2600 with H67 motherboard / i7 2600K + P67 motherboard + dedicated graphics card instead.

Exactly. Even here at work they are going for an i5 650. They could have gone for the 2500k at least. I suppose they signed all the contract before SB came to SA.

My office bought like 4x Core 2 Duo E8500/E8400 PC's this week 2nd-hand, with 4GB RAM and dedicated graphics cards (for Dual DVI / DVI + HDMI) for ~R2k, seeing that most of us don't require such monster PC's for development work.
